SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

IDEX Fire and Safety (Akron Brass, AWG/Alco, Class1, Godiva, HALE, Hurst, Lukas, Vetter, Weldon) focuses primarily manufacturing equipment used in municipal fire departments. In addition to a subset of products manufactured specifically for targeted industrial applications, a range of the core products also have applications in industrial applications. The responsibility of the Sales Engineer for Industrial Markets will be to focus on industrial (non-municipal fire) applications for our products, support the current commercial team to identify, nurture and close opportunities, as well as report back to the Business market conditions as associated with current and future market opportunity, product mix, requirements for marketing support and identification of trends that may provide for growth within, or to expand our scope of focus.

  • Core Market Focus: Petroleum, Oil, Gas, Chemical Refining, (Manufacturing, Transportation and Storage), Mining, Maritime, and Deicing

  • Geographic Coverage: USA and support group efforts as necessary in Canada, Middle East, Asia (including China and India), Latin America

REPORTS TO (Title) : VP of Sales, Industrial

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work independently to identify opportunities that are favorable to advancing the sale, delivery and commissioning of fire/chemical/gas suppression, dust mitigation, deicing and cooling solutions and other IDEX F&S products, into the core markets across North America.

  • Actively support the commercial team to identify credible opportunities that are favorable to advancing the sale, delivery and commissioning of previous mentioned systems into previously stated markets, globally

  • Actively develop and support channel partners and OEMs that will drive growth focused in the industrial markets we serve

  • Support the Akron Brass Industrial Solutions Group with credible project identification, nurturing, bidding, delivery and commissioning, all as applicable

  • Provide strong VOC to the company in order to drive proper growth of our services and business into areas of value to the industry.

  • Look for potential growth opportunities through partnerships, 3rd parties and potential acquisition.

  • Provide actionable intelligence and market feedback to the accordingly to develop and support strategic initiatives for growth in the Industrial Markets

  • Recommend and participate in New Product Development initiatives, as applicable

  • Provide market and opportunity updates through company-available reporting tools

  • Ability and willingness to travel (up to 30%).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES:

  • Requires exceptional communication, presentation, and people skills

  • Ability to work with short deadlines

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Ability to work in changing Industrial environments

  • Superior people skills: Internal and external – including international customers and sales reps

  • Timely response to after sale customer requirements

  • Analyze field problems remotely (most times via telephone) and recommend corrective action; both to the customer and AB engineers

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Excel

  • Experience with AutoCAD, preferred

  • Hands-on experience with the assembly, test and troubleshooting of electrical control systems, PLC’s, networks, motions control, desired, preferred

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in sales, fire protection engineering, electrical engineering or technology and 3+ years’ experience with the following: (recent graduates will be considered based on course work and grades, experience)

  • Technical Sales and support of customer in the Petroleum, Oil, Gas, Chemical Refining markets

  • Drawing generation using Autodesk ACAD

  • Specifying 3rd party hardware and software for project specific requirements, obtaining costs and generating purchase requisitions

  • Managing multiple projects of varying degrees of difficulty at the same time

  • Troubleshooting system problems either onsite or remotely

  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently without help or limited supervision

  • Talking to and expressing ideas to other engineers, internal or external, and be objective yet firm to allow for the best possible outcome on any given situation

  • Would require certification as a Certified Fire Protection Specialist Certification (CFPS), This is not required at hiring, but would be expected to be attained no later than 2 years after hire.
