JOB TITLE: VP/Business Line Leader, Optical Systems

REPORTING TO: VP/GM Life Science Optics

LOCATION: West Henrietta, NY

SCOPE OF ROLE:

This position will successfully guide and lead their designated Business Line’s profitability and growth in alignment with the objectives set forth by the VP/GM of Life Science Optics. Providing day-to-day coaching and leadership of their Business Line team. Focus to include ownership of commercial and technical resources, P&L responsibility for the Business Line on a global product/business scope.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Business Line Leadership:

  • Responsible for business line revenue and margin Annual Operating Plans (AOP) commitments

  • Develop commercial tactics and strategies to drive growth of all products in the LSO Business Line

  • Deploy 8020 to optimize offer complexity and manage the life cycle

  • Formulate, execute, and maintain business line strategies, product plans and roadmaps based on market insight

  • Deployment and operation of Value-Based Pricing solutions across the Business Line, consistent with IDEX Pricing Initiatives – with support from Finance:

  • Execute and standardize effective pricing quotation review processes are in place

  • Analyze gross margin data and develop actions to improve profitability

  • Reviewing by customer "cost to serve" trends and adjusting commercial relationships.

  • Development and standardization of effective pricing processes (pricing log, renewal notifications, non-standard pricing review).

  • Develop and maintain standardized reporting on quote trends (volume, won/lost, by region, by market, competitive pricing effectiveness, etc.).

  • Creates effective tracking tools around price capture activities, including review cycles that monitor the effectiveness of implemented pricing actions

  • Closely partner with operations leadership to support achievement of AOP.

  • Identify quick win opportunities to review, set and enforce fees/policies

  • Ability to travel 25% - 40% depending on business needs

Commercial:

  • Overall responsibility for:

  • Product line definition and life cycle management

  • Product line investment prioritization (align tightly to strategy and roadmaps)

  • Product line budgets

  • Product line resource allocation

  • Collaborates with Sales Management, VP Bus. Dev., and CTO on key strategic customers / targets

  • Oversee Business Line sales forecasts and tactical plans required to achieve or surpass forecasted results

RD&E:

  • Guide Product and Technology roadmap development and maintenance

  • Guide NPD prioritization and investment in alignment with strategic plan and market conditions

  • Ensure timely delivery of strategic and customer-based NPD projects

  • Define, launch, and track new products

Strategy:

  • Collaborate with LSO Leadership Team to develop strategic plans for the Business Line and LSO

  • Communicate and reinforce strategic plan execution to Business Line, Sales and LSO overall

Key Metrics:

  • Business line sales and margin

  • Year over year revenue growth, profit growth and price

  • Customer satisfaction (scorecards)

  • Business Line vitality

  • Revenue from new offerings

  • Margin level

  • Share position

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS in Science / Engineering or Business Management (MBA preferred);

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Sales/Marketing, Product Development, Supply Chain and/or Finance roles. Preferably in an OEM sales environment

  • Proven track record, demonstrated by a progressive level of growth in responsibility and successful demonstration of leadership/business competencies

  • Excellent business and commercial acumen

  • Global business experience desired.

  • A strong commercial background, ability to effectively influence differing channels in differing geographies.

  • Outstanding customer facing communications and interaction skills.

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $150,200.00 - $225,400.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
