SCOPE OF ROLE:
Under minimal supervision and following established procedures, the Machinist II operates, sets-up, and programs production machines to manufacture components to item specifications. This will be done by utilizing computerized numerical control (CNC), and manual machines, to perform various machine functions such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, dicing and grinding of metallic work pieces . This position is required to be fully competent using lathes, and mill experience is preferred. The shop has multiple types of machines and all employees use both lathes and mills (Manual and CNC)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Follows a set production schedule and is driven by accountability, ownership, and customer obsession
Supports and maintains a health culture which embraces the IDEX core values of, trust, team, and excellence
Supports continuous improvement efforts by working with the team to implement/develop new processes and habits
Maintains a clean and organized work environment by participating in daily upkeep
Collaborates with team members to perform in-process inspection in accordance with accepted procedures
Inspect own work-in-process with accepted procedures
Use skills in geometry and trigonometry to configure machines and cut tools to exact measurements as designed and illustrated on engineering blueprints
Machine both, production, and prototype parts, by operating and setting up equipment such as CNC Lathes, CNC diamond turning lathes, manual lathes and CNC Mills using existing tooling and/or fixtures
Perform machine set-ups, tool offsets, edit changes and adjustments necessary to maintain quality of production
Start and stop machines as required to maintain quality, safety, and production efficiency
Maintain proper lubrication and fluid levels to ensure safe and efficient machine operation
Follows best practices to ensure the highest level of machine maintenance
Follow all safety rules and regulations
Perform other duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 5-years of experience as a CNC Machinist or 3 years related experience plus a one-year certificate from college or technical school
Requirement: Intimate knowledge reading and understanding blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
Intimate knowledge of speed and feed calculation based on material to be machined
Intimate knowledge of proper tooling selection based on material to be machined
Intimate knowledge and experience with precision measuring tools
Ability to develop and prove out new CNC machining programs to produce complex components in accordance with engineering blueprints
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds frequently, write by hand and keyboard, and operate small measurement devices
Visual acuity needed for close detail work, microscope inspection, operating tools and machinery, using measurement devices and visual inspection involving small defects and parts
Capable of determining start and end points of angles by using a working and demonstrated knowledge of trigonometry and geometry
Good mechanical aptitude required
Mastercam knowledge a plus
Capable of reading fine graduations on micrometers
Basic manual Lathe operation and setup

Total Rewards
The compensation range for this position is $45,400.00 - $68,200.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
