POSITION SUMMARY

The Trade Compliance Specialist will lead contracts management and trade compliance activity for the organization and will coordinate, prepare and retain all documentation for international trade export/import compliance in accordance with business unit guidelines. The role interacts with all organization levels and functions, both independently and with other members of the Legal, Commercial, Finance, Engineering, Logistics, Sourcing and Compliance Departments. This role requires successful management of a broad range of responsibilities in compliance and contract management in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. The qualified candidate must be organized, detail-oriented, process driven and have a high level of responsiveness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for remaining knowledgeable of, along with the application of, a wide variety of Import and Export regulations, (i.e. International Traffic in Arms, Export Administration Regulations, U.S. Customs).

  • Provide guidance to and coordinate process improvement efforts with all functional areas including Supply Chain, Program Management, Transportation and Logistics, Security, etc.

  • Maintain and administer documentation validation pertaining to FTA’s, special trade programs, or other governmental agency certificates.

  • Oversee activities with Customs Brokers and freight forwarders, including audit and verification of import/export documents, including 7501’s, EEI’s, Invoices and Manufacturing Affidavits, and expedite clearance of shipments that have been delayed by Customs.

  • Participate in product jurisdiction and classifications reviews for all products.

  • Identify and implement resolution of any compliance gaps determined.

  • Identify and provide appropriate import/export related training for functional team activities.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Computer literacy, (i.e. Microsoft Office suite, ERP systems, etc.)

  • General bookkeeping procedures knowledge, including Accounts Receivable

  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to read design and print layouts

  • Proficiency in relevant Microsoft computer applications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associates degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred; IIEI International Trade Certification, or equivalent experience in the export/import field.

  • Knowledge of logistics, operations, and shipping procedures and documents

  • 3+ yrs of Import/Export compliance experience

  • Prefer experience in ITAR/EAR/Customs regulations, licensing, government contracting, and international trade compliance areas such as Anti-boycott and OFAC.
