POSITION SUMMARY

The Business Line Leader (BLL) will own the global strategy, defining the market drivers, customer set, customer requirements, products, and necessary support required to realize our organic and inorganic growth potential within the defined market segment. The role will be responsible for providing strategic and tactical direction within the target market vertical, having broad responsibility to lead a team for product line growth and profitability with key metrics of market segment and product line revenue, margin, and vitality. The BLL will have a cross functional team of commercial, technical, and operations resources.

The BLL role is a talent feeder into IDEX as a General Manager.

This position will require ownership for all 80/20 actions and prioritizations, as well as all product line definition and life cycle management, investment prioritization (aligned tightly to strategy and roadmaps), product definition and positioning, new product introductions, pricing, product line budget recommendations, and allocation recommendations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set the market segment business strategic direction; define go-to-market strategy including market drivers, market insights, our value proposition, target customers, product requirements, etc, as input into the annual strategic plan process and for business line direction.

  • Formulate, execute, & maintain business line strategies, product plans and roadmaps based on market insights and voice of the customer.

  • Develop an effective team-based culture where the business line focuses on the critical few, achieves its commitments and wins with an outstanding team

  • Deploy 8020 thinking to prioritize and optimize initiatives to reduce product and business complexity

  • Foster an expectation and deliver consistent achievement of sales, financial, and operating targets in a highly collaborative team

  • Encourage stretch thinking to drive breakthrough results

  • Leverage business CRM system to track and update customer engagement and funnel (leads, opportunities, quotes, conversions, campaigns)

  • Establish a continuous improvement mindset supported by strong execution of lean toolset

  • Deploy and operate Value-Based Pricing solutions across the Business Line, consistent with IDEX Pricing Initiatives – with support from Finance.

  • Responsible for business line revenue and margin Annual Operating Plans (AOP) commitments.

  • Oversee Business Line sales forecasts and tactical plans required to achieve or surpass forecasted results

  • Create and sustain a high-performance culture that works together to make decisions, integrate new ideas and deliver experiences and products that delight our customers.

  • Guide NPD prioritization and investment in alignment with strategic plan and market conditions

  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • BS in Science / Engineering or Business Management (MBA preferred)

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Sales/Marketing, Product Management, Business Development, preferably in an OEM sales environment

  • Successful track record of Leadership experience in an industrial manufacturing, highly engineered product business; pneumatics industry experience a plus

  • Experience in M&A and/or creating external partnerships a plus

  • Excellent business and commercial acumen

  • Global business experience desired.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required
