IDEX Documentation Control Technician in Rochester, New York

Position Summary:

The Documentation Control Technician drives the development and implementation of new processes for document control by collaborating with and influencing internal customers and external vendors. The Document Control Technician will be responsible for growing and managing the organization that processes submittal and re-submittal documentation for customer orders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Reduction in submittal cycle times and improvement in first stage customer approval by continuously driving process improvements throughout the organization.

  • Works integrally with Application Engineering, Project Management and Commercial Engineering during pre and post-award to ensure that all technical and engineering requirements are clearly defined and are included in the submittal/re-submittal(s).

  • Review documentation requirements of customer orders and coordinate, prepare and submit all documentation. Follow-up with customer to ensure all requirements have been met per the specifications.

  • Process pump order changes to update the master parts list package for pump orders not yet shipped ensuring the parts list package is always current prior to shipment.

  • Support shop floor documentation needs as required.

  • Collect and assemble data for both submittal and final data packages. Data will be obtained from Order Entry, Application Engineering, Project Management and Commercial Engineering and various outside vendors. It will be the responsibility of the incumbent to continually improve this process to shorten submittal cycle times.

  • Prepare transmittal and mail data package according to data requests forwarded by Order Entry.

  • Keep accurate record of all data mailed, including data and mailing method.

  • Process requests received from representatives and/or customers for data, parts lists and O&M manuals on a timely basis. Actively works to make this process web-based.

  • Pro-act, monitor and report activities as requested by the supervisor, e.g. efficient turn-around of approval packages to customers is of utmost importance; open orders are to be tracked and completed requests documented.

  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by department manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

EDUCATION

  • Minimum of Associates Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in technical documentation

EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical industrial equipment.

  • 2 to 5 years related experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Project Management experience

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and Electrical drawings

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft suite (Word, Excel), Adobe Professional, Nitro Pdf

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $35,600.00 - $53,400.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
