IDEX Director of Operations in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

The Director of Operations will lead an operations team of over 150 people by fostering an environment of empowerment, inclusion, and continuous improvement. The goal will be to strive for excellence in areas related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Cost through the effective use of 80/20 and a servant leadership mindset. Reporting to the VP, Operations, this role has responsibility of the Oklahoma City site including production, planning, inventory, logistics and materials.

Job Description:

  • Provide direct management of production leadership team

  • Manage manufacturing facility with the standardized Lean Operating System and the deployment of 6S

  • Develop and sustain a culture of “Lean Behavior” defined by:

  • A “Visual Factory” where in every area it is clear if we are having a good day / bad day against the expected performance “at a glance”, without asking questions

  • Adherence to standardized work

  • Daily management of the operation throughout the day by leaders that walk the shop floor with purpose and regular cadence (Leader Standard Work and Gemba Walks)

  • Employees that are expected to address any-and-all non-standard conditions, per the standard work, without delay

  • Sponsor / participate VSM workshops across the deployment cycle

  • Drive Lean process improvement projects and RIE (Kaizen) Events designed to improve delivery performance, lead time, logistics optimization, and operational efficiency

  • Manage key metrics and KPI’s (OTD, FPY, Safety, etc.) relevant to business and operational excellence

  • Plan and organize action steps for current growth projections

  • Develop and maintain in-process manufacturing systems to ensure product quality, understanding all customer specifications and requirements.

  • Ensure new parts and optimization projects are completed by the required deadline, at reasonable cost, and with a robust process, preparing procedures and plans and working closely with engineering, programming, quality, and customer service and support as required.

  • Proactive and continuous evaluation of capacity vs. demand for all manufacturing resources (people, equipment, inventory, etc.).

  • Keep up to date on the latest operations to continually optimize and drive costs out of our products.

  • Work collaboratively to facilitate the design, development and implementation of policies, procedures and practices related to operations

  • Maintain effective accountability for the performance of all team members.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management or other related field required. A Master’s Degree is preferred.

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in industrial engineered products manufacturing required

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a management role with responsibility for manufacturing operations in different operating environments required

  • Strong team leadership capabilities and communications skills; an ability to work with and influence a variety of different positions within an organization.

  • Demonstrated servant leadership behaviors to influence and manage people/teams while creating followership with others.

Work Environment

Exposure to manufacturing environment. Noise level may vary from moderate office environment to noisy/loud in the plant area. Proper use of safety equipment such as steel-toed shoes, goggles, safety glasses, gloves, apron and face shield must be observed.
