Quality Manager Job Description
The quality manager is responsible for ensuring our products are manufactured according to established standards and for driving efficiency within the business by reducing cost of poor quality. The quality manager will work closely with engineering, operations, and continuous improvement to ensure best-in-class quality for new product introduction, manufacturing, and testing. The quality manager will develop and manage KPI’s as well as lead root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions. The ideal candidate will have experience interacting with customers, leading transformational change and deploying and maintaining policies that are in compliance with ISO9001. The qualified candidate must be passionate about developing talent, leading a team, and driving continuous improvement through daily management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Quality Management System: Establish, maintain, and improve the QMS to comply with ISO9001 standards. Lead surveillance and recertification audits.
COPQ Tracking: Track COPQ and lead projects to drive improvement, including defining and measuring all inputs contributing to COPQ.
Team Leadership: Lead a team including a quality engineer, supervisor and inspectors to measure and improve supplier, in-process, and manufacturing quality.
Root Cause Analysis: Coordinate and lead Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Measures (RCCMs) for containment, corrective, and preventative actions based on customer complaints and internal quality defects.
Material Review Board: Lead the MRB process for effective disposition of non-conforming material, including collaboration with supply chain, production, engineering, and finance on scrap, re-work, etc.
Customer Interfacing/Support:
Lead customer-requested site or virtual audits on QMS and business processes.
Lead investigation for customer-related quality issues to promptly maintain effective communication and resolution.
Maintain the Customer Complaint system ensuring effective resolution of Customer Quality issues, including process, tracking, and reducing RMA and warranty claims
Help grow focus customers through professional reports and analysis to build confidence, supported by exceptional processes.
Incoming Inspection Management: Process management owner of incoming inspection and testing requirements
Continuous Improvement: Drive the adoption of 80/20 and continuous improvement to enhance the Cost of Quality, first pass yield, and operating costs.
Quality Training: Ensure quality training and awareness in the organization by applying quality tools and expertise.
Documentation: Optimize and standardize plant quality documentation, utilizing standard document control systems.
Statistical Analysis: Deliver inspection and audit plans with statistical analysis (SPC) to support end-of-line inspection reduction and build quality into all processes.
Supplier Performance: Monitor supplier performance, manage Supplier Corrective Actions (SCARs), assist with supplier audits, and maintain the Supplier Quality System.
Annual Plans:
Aid in the development and execution of annual operating and goal deployment action plans and improvement targets.
Responsible for defining the plant quality objectives: monitor and measure internal quality performance such as internal defects, scrap, sorting activities, suspect material review and disposition, first piece approval, and floor audits.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Quality Management, Engineering, or related field.
10+ yrs of relevant experience in an industrial manufacturing environment; preferably high-volume manufacturing or rotating equipment with increasing levels of responsibility and leading a team
Proven experience in quality management and ISO9001 standards.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in statistical analysis and quality improvement programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in Quality Management (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean).
ASQ certification, or similar accreditation, a plus
