IDEX Senior Accountant in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Summary/Objective

Under minimal direction, the Sr. Accountant performs and presents financial reporting, general ledger activities, and internal controls evaluation. The Sr Accountant maintains good professional judgment while demonstrating a strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting requirements per IDEX policy. Position is structured to eventually manage accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) functions as Accounting Manager.

Essential Functions

Sr. Accountant Month End Closing and General Ledger Responsibilities

  • Prepare and oversee journal entries – including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, corporate allocations, prepaid, intangible and miscellaneous journal entries.

  • Prepare monthly trial balance and supplemental load into IDEX Consolidation system and ensure financial data is reported accurately.

  • Review and analyze financial reports and transactions and ensure that they are accurate and completed in a timely manner in accordance with GAAP and IDEX policy.

  • Provide critical analysis of all assigned balance sheet accounts and ensure they are reconciled in accordance with IDEX policy.

  • Manage IDEX reconciliation tool, including loading balances, performing tie-out checks to local enterprise resource planning (ERP), and general maintenance.

  • Perform general ledger and related tasks, including ownership of fixed assets, Corporate credit card support, and sales and use tax returns.

  • Daily Working Capital Management – AR, AP, and Inventory

  • Work closely with Sr. FP&A Analyst for site operational needs, Annual Operating Plan, Month End processes, and projects as needed.

Sr. Accountant Internal Controls

  • Maintain technical proficiency of general accounting policies and guidelines.

  • Oversee and participate in on-going internal control documentation review. Use critical thinking to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices.

  • Lead and supervise annual Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) cycles which will include some of the following: cash, accounts payable, expenditure control, selling and revenue recognition, cash receipts, cash disbursements (including payroll), capital expenditures, general ledger and accounting, inventories, accrued expenses, and financial reporting.

  • Assist with completion of various controllership deliverables, including but not limited to Balance Sheet Reviews, IDEX Key Control Questionnaires, and Segregation of Duties Reviews.

Sr. Accountant Financial Analysis Responsibilities

  • Perform and present various daily/monthly/quarterly/yearly financial analyses, coordinating with accounting/finance staff as necessary.

  • Conduct financial analysis and monitor results to support operational excellence and lean enterprise initiatives.

  • Develop and present other self-initiated analysis.

  • Ad hoc financial and business analysis as needed.

  • Accounts Receivable Coordination

  • Working Capital - work with AR to monitor past due accounts and resolve issues with collections in a timely manner. Isolate past due root causes and identify opportunities to improve days sales outstanding (DSO).

Sr. Accountant Accounts Payable Management

  • Working Capital - work with AP associate to maximize Accounts Payable balances and improve days payables outstanding (DPO) to reduce Working Capital.

Other Responsibilities

  • Constantly identify opportunities to streamline processes, add value to cross-functional departments, and provide support in meeting business priorities.

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Help improve engagement and celebrate success within Finance department.

  • Provide coverage for Finance Manager as needed.

  • Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company

  • Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description, and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output

  • Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety to self and co-workers

  • Performs other duties as required

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.

  • 4+ years previous experience in an accounting role(s) required.

  • Preferred 4+ years’ experience in a manufacturing or corporate environment.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting and financial principles.

  • Strong understanding or Internal Controls and SOX compliance.

  • Strong Excel and ERP system skills.

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Other:

Pay: $82,000 to $100,000/yr

Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm

Hybrid: Hybrid work eligible

Work Environment

Exposure to manufacturing environment. Noise level may vary from moderate office environment to noisy/loud in the plant area. Proper use of safety equipment such as steel-toed shoes, goggles, safety glasses, gloves, apron and face shield must be observed. Travel: Minimal – 5%-10%

Sr. Accountant position requires compliance with ITAR Regulations; this person must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident.
