United States operations include warehouses and manufacturing facilities in Wilmington, North Carolina, and Linthicum, Maryland, and our division headquarters in Rutherford, New Jersey.

The Supply Chain Specialist will lead the Purchasing/Strategic Sourcing function for US Valve. The candidate will develop, prioritize, and execute sourcing initiatives to reduce supply chain complexity, improve business continuity and achieve material productivity. This role will be responsible for improving supplier performance and developing a best-in class supply base for critical components. The position will work closely with production to achieve on-time delivery and with finance to ensure a complete and accurate accounting of inventory and will report directly to the Operations Manager.

8020 & SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

  • Manage the overall purchasing function, scheduling, and inventory control as well as all other related purchasing functions.

  • Evaluate raw materials needed for production by working with schedulers, management and MRP systems.

  • Collaborates with commercial team to set inventory levels needed to execute expected sales forecasts.

  • Identifies supply chain risk and implements counter measures that improves part availability, prevents stock outs and accelerates backlog execution.

  • Drives 8020 principles deeper within the organization by using the Plan for Every Part (PFEP) analysis to drive actions.

  • Leads our SIOP process

  • Owns all supplier data masters is JDE, keep relevant data updated as required

  • Track and expedite delivery to ensure material availability. Resolve discrepancies by comparing purchase orders.

  • Be part of a team that performs periodic physical inventories.

  • Discuss defective goods with quality control personnel, vendors, and users to determine the cause. Work together to find solutions.

  • Responsible for import compliance.

STRATEGIC SOURCING

  • Develops strong relationships with key suppliers; fosters an environment of open communication & accountability.

  • Understanding of Market Dynamics - considerate of emerging trends of demand and product design (working well with Engineering team/ new customers/ markets)

  • Owns project pipeline for strategic sourcing initiatives focused on supplier qualification and tooling investment.

  • Leads development of contract strategy; including negotiating, establishing, monitoring and enforcing supplier contracts and agreements with a focus on cost productivity, production capacity, and component quality.

  • Leads sourcing analysis and selection process and perform cost analysis and make vs buy analysis as required.

OTHER

  • Actively engages in Daily Management, Monthly Business Reviews, and GEMBA walks.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or other relevant degree

  • 5+ yrs experience in Purchasing, Strategic Sourcing, or Materials Management roles

  • Track record of supply chain performance improvement in a low-volume, high-mix, manufacturing business

  • Experience in international sourcing and logistics, experience with Asian suppliers is a plus

  • High Proficiency with Microsoft Excel Previous experience purchasing mechanical components Problem Solving/Analysis.

  • Communication Proficiency. Time Management.

  • ISO9001 experience a plus
