Scope of Role:

Responsible for the continuous improvement, lean value stream process support, and maintenance of manufacturing processes to maximize productivity while minimizing costs. Work with cross-functional teams to develop organizational wide automation, machining, and assembly strategy. Select and on-board new equipment to support strategy, while maintaining positive employee relations, team-oriented problem solving and employee accountability.

Essential Duties and Responsibility:

• Develops advanced manufacturing processes. Assigned strategic investigations to support long range manufacturing development.

• Has excellent knowledge of metal cutting equipment (CNC lathes, mills, etc.) Has a deep understanding of programming needs and maintenance fundamentals. Can aid in the selection of new machines, tooling, automation and processes required to meet productivity objectives.

• Oversee the purchase of new equipment which includes the initial justification, supplier contact, studies of equipment prior to purchase and after installation, implementation and training of personnel in use of new equipment. Has excellent knowledge of metal cutting equipment (CNC lathes, mills, etc.) Has a deep understanding of programming needs and maintenance fundamentals.

• Identify new processes integrating automation and cost effective solutions to manufacturing process problems utilizing lean principles into the facility. Leading projects to onboard, configure, and troubleshoot control systems during launch and sustainment in manufacturing.

• Perform Machine/Automation run offs, identifying process capability (CPK) and modifying to meet industry standards.

• Advances and maintains manufacturing work instructions associated with the product including assembly, final assembly, paint and test and special processes. Assist in the training and evaluation when applicable

• Coordinates manufacturing process changes resulting from Engineering Change Notices or new product implementation which includes tooling, fixtures, gages, CNC programs, packaging and routings.

• Prepares routings for new or revised parts or to reflect modifications of current manufacturing methods. Process information, cost and prototype requests as required.

• Modify cell layouts utilizing lean value stream principles. Determines and recommends improvements of accurate cell capacity and production rates.

Qualifications:

• BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.

• Minimum 8 years of operations experience in a manufacturing environment with increasing responsibilities including automation.

• Experience in integrated control system troubleshooting and configuration (PLC, HMI, OIT)

• Familiar with Vision Systems and motion controllers/actuators.

• Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to learn and adapt to new processes are a plus.

• Demonstrated collaboration with emphasis on cross functional team development and leading skilled trades.

• Demonstrated project management and GD&T methodology skills.

• Experience implementing Continuous Improvement and TPM programs.

• Demonstrated knowledge and competence in machining and/or assembly operations, mix model cell structure is a plus.
