The VP, North American Distribution Sales leader has responsibility for a $60M business line segment and leads a global sales team. The mission is to drive growth over the next 3 years focusing in themunicipal and industrial markets of fire servicewhile achieving targeted profit margins. The VP will provide clear strategic & tactical direction for an integrated sales team dedicated to well-known fire industry brands such as Akron Brass and Hale. This role reports directly to the President, Fire Suppression Group, with a strong dotted line to the VP, FSG Akron Brass.

Primary Responsibilities Include:
Grow orders and sales year over year of integrated product lines (Akron Brass & Hale) while increasing business over a three year period
Protect the Core by remaining a market share leader in the municipal and industrial markets by establishing a position with all the top customers
Drive culture of 8020 by maximizing leverage of regional sales resources and budget.
Support complexity reductions, engineering cost out redesigns and improving operational (people) efficiency utilizing the lean tools to increase profitability
Spearhead sales launch of new technologies, revolutionizing the fire safety industry by creating incremental revenue over a three year period. Partner with internal resources to develop new product development (NPD) roadmap to meet customer needs in the Distribution & Industrial markets
Lead and develop a national sales team, provide coaching and career guidance. Build succession plan for critical roles
Demonstrate customer obsession by proactive solution selling, visiting with key distributions and end users, represent the division and business during annual trade shows
Secondary Responsibilities Include:
Leverage Sales Force CRM tool to create most effective sales team in the industry. Metrics to include accuracy to forecast, close rate, local market share, etc
Drive pipeline opportunity creation to provide consistent visibility of the monthly revenue target
Knowledge and familiarity of highly technical regulated product qualification sales process. (Fire or Safety industries preferred) Understand the product development cycles and key players (OEM’s, Distributors, governmental regulatory agencies, competitors, market dynamics & influencers
Manage sales incentive plans with the objective of focusing on key customer accounts and providing a solutions selling mind set
Develop coalitions, participate in industry organizations
Travel up to 50%
Location preferred in Wooster, OH but open to other major cities across the nation where the business has a large presence
Experience and Background:
15 years’ experience in sales fire and safety industry preferred, but not required
Minimum of 10 years sales leadership in an executive capacity
Experience managing a large distribution channel, as well as OEM’s
Proven ability to develop and lead “high performing” teams that are focused on execution and meeting the financial, operational & people objectives. Take a deep dive into the team’ strengths and gaps to position the best outcome/solution selling sales team in the industry
High energy, personal accountability & execution mindset. Able to easily multitask to manage competing priorities. Able to clearly set objectives and holds team accountable for them
Strategic thinker able to develop clear strategies and plans then translate to specific tactical actions for the team to execute. Continuously look at Sales Incentive targets/plans to ensure the team is driving the right behavior
Excellent business development & communication skills. Able to understand customer needs and create a compelling value prop selling externally & internally. Able to telescope from senior customer/executive interactions to connecting with all levels of Akron Brass (specifically Operations, Customer Service and Marketing) to improve our overall customer experience
