The VP of Engineering for Global Dispensing will serve as a critical member of the global business leadership team. He\she will work with the regional Engineering Directors to plan and oversee the organization's engineering activities including coordination of research and development, new product development, product modification and improvement activities in conformance with established programs and objectives, transfer of best practices across regions to leverage global strengths and providing engineering advice and technical assistance to other departments. This individual will play a dual role leading the Engineering team for Fluid Management Americas, which will be a primary focus in the first 9-12 months. In this role, he\she will coordinate all engineering activities of the FMA organization and will lead directly a team of approx. 14 engineers and technicians. This individual will be responsible for building a world-class engineering team including a network of external engineering consultants, jointly developing the strategic plan for the business, developing and executing engineering budgets, establishing a robust new product development and product modification process, ongoing maintenance of business activity and collaborating effectively with all the other business functions including Product Management, Quality, Tech Support, Sales and Marketing and Operations.


  • Create a technical vision for the company and plan for implementation of new technical projects or product lines

  • Establish current and long-range engineering objectives, strategies, and policies that apply globally

  • Work with regional Directors to build and develop AA teams, ensuring that the regional groups are adequately resourced with the appropriate training, tools, and support to meet their objectives.

  • Align with other functional leadership of the business to develop plans to meet overall business growth, revenue and cost targets

  • Aggressively manage ongoing engineering projects, either directly or through subordinates

  • Manage and coordinate product development, working with sales, marketing and manufacturing to determine the competitiveness of new technologies

  • Create technical budgets and resource allocation plans to align with the functional and business goals and objectives

  • Implement engineering metrics that offer transparency into engineering performance and implement a robust process to address issues and perform corrective actions quickly

  • Establish and maintain an effective system of communications throughout the engineering organization including seamless transfer/adoption of best practices

  • Implement innovation processes to identify and analyze new technologies and run competitive analyses

  • Develop a Center of Excellence around Colorant conditioning and establish relationships with all significant colorant suppliers globally.

  • Build a comprehensive assessment program for product and component performance evaluations (dispensing & competitive products)

  • Be senior technical representative at events and meetings with major customers, suppliers and trade organizations

  • Be a key business leader active at both the global level within the Dispensing business and locally in the Americas with Fluid Management team

  • Maintain an understanding of macro technical trends in the paint industry, customer trends, competitive product trends, and paint industry regulations

  • Establish a complementary network of external knowledge consultants and development capability to build an overall Variable Engineering model for the business at FMA (Fluid Mgmt. Americas)



  • Ability to draw on experiences to drive process improvement and engineering excellence across the groups

  • Capacity to encourage effective technical collaboration across multiple regions

  • Able to use their knowledge and credibility to influence individuals and teams to achieve desired outcomes

  • Capability to motivate and mobilize individuals behind strategies to maximize the success of the business

  • Skilled in coaching\mentoring; ideally has a strong track record of developing talent

  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles, concepts, practices, and theories

  • Confident and credible when working with internal and external groups at all levels

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully launch new products, on time and meeting original cost targets

  • Experience with leading and directing global technical & engineering teams

  • Familiarity with Lean Tools (DFM, 3P, GDP, etc.)

  • Positive history of building high performance teams

  • Strong communicator with a clear vision for performance standards in an engineering environment)

  • Team player works well with others, proactive and detail oriented

  • Understanding and desire to drive complexity reduction within technical development and decision-making processes

  • Willing to travel globally (up to 25-30%) to work with global teams, attend meetings, meet customers etc.


  • BS in engineering along with a master’s degree in one of the major engineering disciplines (and/or an MBA)

  • Minimum of 7-10 years managing an engineering function in a high-tech lean manufacturing environment

  • 5+ years working with international teams including experience in the US, Europe, India & Asia
