Summary:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer implements assigned projects to meet product technical goals. Modifies existing or develops configured product solutions for specialized applications. Assumes technical project management responsibility for engineering projects moderately complex in depth and breadth. Applies sound engineering judgment and leadership in evaluating and applying various mechanical, material, fabrication, and testing technologies. Qualifies products that meet customer expectations for release to manufacturing.

Essential Job Functions:

Through the development of new or modification of existing parts, products, and technologies, creates innovative fluid system solutions to meet business objectives.

Applies analytical, modeling, and prototyping skills to prove the feasibility of a solution and develop a

marketable and manufacturable product.

Follows procedures and applies project management skills to move developments from the initial concept

through the development of a specification, identification of the critical to customer quality requirements, design and prototyping, and qualifications, tooling, and initial production run steps of the product introduction process.

Coordinates cross-departmental support that is required to complete project tasks on time and within the project expense, capital, and unit cost budgets.

Mentors project team members and other technical staff in planning, evaluating, and performing

project tasks.

Evaluates potential new suppliers and qualifies new components and tools for use in production.

Supports marketing and sales activities with technical expertise in the company product lines and technologies.

Reduces R&D process time significantly and is positioned as the expert.

Maintains awareness of company goals, strategies, and new market developments.

Identifies potential areas for new technology or product development necessary to meet trends in Trebor's target markets.

Utilize Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools, as applicable to reduce process variation, eliminate non-value added activities and defects and improve customer satisfaction.

Provides accurate and timely technical information through technical documents and ECNs.

Performs work in a timely manner by shipping prototype on time, meeting project transition target dates, and responding to engineering requests by the committed date.

Maintain and control financial impact of projects by meeting cost targets to achieve company target gross margins, completing projects to achieve company new product sales targets, and keeping project

expenses at or below target for each project phase.

Performs engineering and mathematical calculations as required.

Develops design concepts using CAD and solid modeling.

Generate drawings that are suitable for production and inspection in accordance with quality policy.

Procures parts for projects departmental supplies, and production of special components following standard procedures.

Maintains awareness of advances in design and manufacturing tools, materials, and practices.

Participation in at least one Kaizen event or on at least one Six Sigma project team annually.

Qualifications: MSME, BSME or related degree required.

Minimum of 8 - 10+ years experience with mechanical assemblies used in fluid systems or pneumatic

controls.

Experience with molded and machined plastics, machined and formed metals, and assembly techniques preferred.

Four to 6+ years experience in product and process design and/or technology and project management

experience.

Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers, and co-workers.

Ability to travel internationally is highly preferred.

Must have authorization to work in the United States, and be able to have lawful access to controlled technology as required for this position.
