JOB TITLE: Machinist II

REPORTING TO: Value Stream Manager

LOCATION: West Henrietta, NY


These positions may require lawful access to ITAR/EAR controlled information and employees in this role will need to meet those requirements. Requirements include US Citizenship or US Permanent Resident.

Under minimal supervision and following established procedures, operates and sets-up production machines to manufacture components to item specifications. This will be done by utilizing computerized numerical control (CNC) machines to perform various machine functions such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, dicing and grinding of metallic work pieces.


  • Using skills in geometry and trigonometry configure machines and cutting tools to exact measurements that will produce products as designed and illustrated on engineering blueprints

  • Machine these production parts by operating and setting up equipment such as CNC Lathes and CNC Mills using existing tooling and/or fixtures

  • Basic manual Lathe operation and setup

  • Mastercam knowledge a plus

  • Starts and stops machines as required to maintain quality, safety and production efficiency

  • Performs machine set-ups, tool offsets, edit changes and adjustments necessary to maintain quality of production

  • Maintain proper lubrication and fluid levels to insure safe and efficient machine operation. Remove scrap metal from machines necessary to maintain safe and efficient machine operation. Reports equipment or tooling malfunctions to lead person

  • Ability to develop and prove out new CNC machining programs to produce complex components in accordance with engineering blueprints

  • Inspect own work-in-process with accepted procedures. Submit parts to in-process inspection in accord with accepted procedures

  • Make adjustments as necessary to maintain product quality

  • Follow all safety rules and regulations

  • Perform other duties as required


  • High School Graduate or equivalent

  • Minimum of 5-years of experience as a CNC Machinist or one year certificate from college or technical school; plus 3 years related experience

  • Capable of determining start and end points of angles by using a working and demonstrated knowledge of trigonometry and geometry

  • Has demonstrated intimate knowledge in the ability to read and understand blueprints, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

  • Capable of reading fine graduations on micrometers

  • Base knowledge of speed and feed calculation based on material to be machined

  • Base knowledge of proper tooling selection based on material to be machined

  • Good mechanical aptitude required

  • Visual acuity needed for close detail work, microscope inspection, operating tools and machinery, using measurement devices and visual inspection involving small defects and parts


  • Familiarity and experience with precision measuring tools

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds frequently, write by hand and keyboard, and operate small measurement devices

  • This position is a site-based role.
