SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Associate Buyer will be a key member of the Purchasing Team responsible for establishing and maintaining purchasing system requirements for MRO, Services and Consumables through MRP messages driven in our ERP system (JDE), and requisition for replenishment orders. This position includes but is not limited to purchase order entry and maintenance, managing on-time placement of future PO’s; logic and problem solving for PO issue resolution, ownership of electronic flow and appropriate approvals, and some administrative support for weekly/monthly tasks and projects. This position will interface with all departments of the organization. The candidate will need to demonstrate initiative and have a solid work ethic to fit within our team culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Review MRP reports, verify demand, and place purchase orders as needed for current demand, forecast, and safety stock

  • Enter data into ERP system from an approved email or requisition for PO creation

  • Issue Purchase Order via electronic email, internet online ordering or telephone

  • Ensure approvals and purchase order documentation are archived appropriately for further audits

  • Strong confidence and authority to engage with suppliers via telephone and email

  • Work with suppliers to confirm purchase orders in a timely manner - verifying upcoming shipments and any open non-confirmed orders

  • Review Open PO report and ensure PO’s are received by suppliers; expedite past due orders and monitor and help facilitate urgent expedites

  • Participate in meetings with the Supply Chain Manager to discuss current trends, open purchase orders, expedites, pricing issues and other supply chain related items

  • Process purchase order changes/revisions and communicate to suppliers

  • Monitor purchase order exceptions such as push-outs, pull-in’s and changes when necessary

  • Assist cross functional teams with raw material identification, specification support and solicitation of competitive quotes on raw material, finished goods, and other products as required such as office suppliers and/or capital equipment

  • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) meetings and utilize Return-To-Vendor process (RTV) to properly return materials to suppliers

  • Work closely with program managers, engineers, and suppliers to ensure ECO’s (Engineering Change Orders) are at the most current level and any part number or purchase order changes are completed in a timely manner

  • Establish and monitor Min/Max and safety stock program to ensure material is readily available and in stock when needed to execute seamless supply chain strategies

  • Identify PO issues and forwards to Buyers or Supply Chain Manager for resolution

  • Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring efficient and effective functioning of the work in Supply Chain Department

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree Supply Chain, Business Administration, or another relevant field

  • 2-5 years purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience with MRP/ERP web-based systems, JDE experience a plus

  • Experience establishing and maintaining supplier relationships with new and existing suppliers

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, file directory navigation, ERP navigation, etc)

  • Microsoft Excel experience (VLOOKUP/SUMPRODUCT Functions, Pivot Tables), a plus

  • Demonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals Ability to read and understand procedures

  • Lean Six Sigma knowledge, a plus

  • Must be very organized, able to work with strict deadlines, persistent in obtaining required information from suppliers and internal stakeholders

  • Work on routine assignments that require some problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment

  • Perform all duties in an independent and professional manner as well all, in a team environment that promotes collaboration

  • detail-oriented individual with good analytical skills, excellent written/verbal communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions and inquiries

  • This position is a site-based role
