IDEX Manufacturing Process Specialist in Waterloo, Ontario

Position Summary:

As part of the Process Engineering team, you will be primarily responsible for the creation of the routings that pertain to parts that go through manufacturing in our facility. The Manufacturing Process specialist is an integral part of the engineering team and actively helps us to ensure projects are being processed accurately and effectively.

Reports To: Manager – Process Engineering

Essential Functions:

Position requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Create detailed engineering masters (manufacturing routings) for manufactured parts using JDE Manufacturing ERP system.

  • Work with Operations to establish correct order of manufacturing operations, times and equipment selection when setting up new engineering masters for fabricated parts.

  • Participate in Make-vs-Buy decisions to ensure we understand our manufacturing capabilities and have accurate manufacturing routings for the parts we make and have selected the right vendors for the parts we buy.

  • Work with Aftermarket, Engineering and Operations to aid in the coordination and routings of refurbishment orders for Rolls, Rotors and Gearboxes.

  • Review engineering masters for new machines, sub-components & assemblies to ensure all items from the Bill of Materials are included.

  • Verify & update part descriptions, drawing revisions and all required fields in JDE Manufacturing ERP system

to ensure latest part information is available and parts are manufactured to the correct design revision.

  • Work with the engineering department to implement design improvements allowing for productivity savings.

  • Participate in various Continuous Improvement Projects as required.

  • Work with Production & Engineering Team to identify and evaluate new technologies to more efficiently manufacture parts as required.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Related post-secondary education in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering and/or equivalent work experience within a “job shop” type environment with high part variation

  • Good working knowledge of different disciplines within manufacturing including Machining, Welding, Fabrication and Assembly.

Language Skills:

  • English

Computer Skills:

  • JD Edwards

  • Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)

Other Qualifications:

  • Good organizational skills – You know what needs to get done and when it needs to get done.

  • Able to work independently – You know your priorities and can make a plan to keep things on track.

  • You can read and interpret manufacturing drawings and know how they relate to relate to manufacturing operations.

  • Strong interpersonal skills - You are comfortable developing relationships and discussing projects with manufacturing and engineering staff.

  • Can articulate manufacturing processes and instructions.
