ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS include the following: Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, setup cards, sketches and related technical data to determine setup procedures, control settings and machining methods and sequences.
Calculates and sets machine controls to position spindle in relationship to work piece and to regulate factors such as cutting depth, speed feed and coolant flow.
Starts machine and monitors displays and machine operation to detect malfunctions, changes cutting tools and setup according to required machining sequence and measures parts for conformance to blueprint specifications.
Enters commands or manually adjusts machine controls to correct malfunctions or nonconforming machining.
Operates the machine manually to perform non-automated functions and when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.
Files, sands, polishes and shapes machined parts as needed.
Performs in-process inspections and completes gage and/or inspection sheets as required.
Discusses control media errors with supervisor or programming personnel to resolve problems.
Discusses nonstandard inspection methods with the Quality Technician.

One year certification from college or technical school plus three to six months related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
