Data Center Operations – Applications Systems Engineer

Job Summary/Overview:

The Applications System Engineer, Corporate IT Systems Engineer will be responsible for working with IDEX’s Corporate Export and ERP Implementation/application teams as well as IDEX global business partners and business units to assist in architecting, implementation, and maintaining IDEX’s hosted enterprise applications and server operations.

A mid-level position with growth that allows for working with IDEX’s enterprise catalog of applications and gaining knowledge about how these applications are used in IDEX business units today. This role has substantial exposure to current Microsoft, Linux, Cloud based infrastructure. Educational and certification opportunities along with the ability to cross-train within business function teams, as well as across corporate application and IT disciplines. This position will be a remote based position with limited travel.


  • Support IDEX enterprise applications and server operations

  • Assist in managing enterprise system resources, performance, and analysis reports

  • Troubleshoot system technical (OS and application) issues

  • Set-up and administer IDEX enterprise systems in both a private cloud (managed service) and public cloud (i.e., Azure) environment

  • Assist in management of public cloud (Azure) environments

  • Assist in Cyber Security analysis and improvement process

  • Identify and recommend operational process improvements

  • Maintain documentation of system and application operational, monitoring and recovery processes and procedures

  • Create, maintain, and audit technical operations, monitoring, and setup documentation

  • Provide level 2/3 support for enterprise applications, client access, printing, and reporting systems

  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis and Problem Management processes: documenting, tracking, and coordinating response to enterprise applications systems technical issues

  • Follow and enforce technical change management for enterprise application systems

  • Work with management to Implement, enforce, and audit security processes and management for enterprise application systems

  • Provide guidance to BU IT regarding system setup, troubleshooting and maintenance

  • Provide technical expertise in projects involving IDEX Corp IT, IDEX business unit teams, and technical services provider(s)

  • Position requires occasional after-hour and weekend support

Required Skills:

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Effectively give direction to technical resources of managed service provider and BU IT

  • Dedication and ability to work remote effectively

  • Knowledge of variety of enterprise applications on either a MS Windows or Linux platform, including but not limited to Precision (Trax), FedEx, Create!Form, Citrix, RF Smart

  • Managing servers (MS and Linux) and Virtualization platforms (MS HV, VMWare, or Azure)

  • Experience administering systems in a public cloud (Azure, AWS, …) environment is desirable

  • Knowledge of and experience with Citrix client access methodology is desirable

  • Business, technical, and functional knowledge to support ERP systems

  • Preferred experience with JD Edwards ERP


  • College degree preferred in Computer Information Systems,

  • alternatively, extensive systems and applicable experience

  • Technical Certifications desirable (i.e.: MSCE, Azure, Citrix…)

Prior Work Experience:

  • 2 years in large ($1B or greater) corporate environments preferred

  • 2 years of project experience on complex, multi-location teams

  • 2 years of experience working with cross-functional teams and heavily matrixed organizations
