Supply Chain Manager

Job Designation

Leads the procurement and supply chain functions. Develops and manages our purchasing strategies and sourcing decisions. Drives influential executive relationships with critical suppliers. Ensures procurement procedures comply with government laws and regulations, and management objectives.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develops and manages the strategies and sourcing decisions, while ensuring the successful management and enhancement of the business' supply chain

  • Works collaboratively both within and outside of the Supply Chain organizations to drive both strategic and tactical Supply Chain initiatives. An overriding objective of this position is to move from continuous firefighting to driving continuous improvement in our most critical component strategies and development of influential relationships with largest spend suppliers.

  • Develops and implements a Supply Chain strategy plan. Creates cost savings initiatives and strategies and oversees budget, while ensuring compliance with government laws and regulations (domestic/international). Works with cross functional teams to support supply chain strategy plan.

  • Reduces overall supply risk though contingency planning and understanding of supplier capabilities, disaster preparedness, and financial health. Develops a strategy for continuity of supply and next generation components.

  • Builds and maintains solid relationships with strategic supply chain partners and negotiates contracts and long-term agreements.

  • Achieves competitive cost reduction for highest spend commodities using 80/20 methodologies

  • Builds on-going strategic funnel of cost reduction opportunities

  • Tracks and manages changing global markets and geo-political environments, and follows pricing trends, specifically for steel and copper, in the global market

  • Negotiates and awards contracts, approves payments to suppliers while maintaining influential vendor relationships

  • Supports continuous improvement activities across the entire supply chain including development and implementation of appropriate measures of performance. Identifies and closes capability gaps existing supply base.

  • Applies project management skills and overall project ownership to management of multi-disciplined teams. Drives cross-functional consensus and accountability, and coordinates implementation of complex enterprise-wide projects in a timely and effective manner

  • Leads and directs work for team of employees as defined by business needs

  • Manages staff selection, performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations

  • Works closely with leadership team to define and achieve operational objectives

  • Owns and drives the use and improvement of the business operation system across all Supply Chain functions

  • Exercises consistent independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance

  • Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Job Specifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related field, required.

  • APICs or equivalent certification preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of ERP/MRP systems; JDE preferred

  • Well-developed negotiation & networking skills with proven results

  • 7 – 10 years of relevant professional experience

  • Machined metal parts experience preferred

  • Black Belt certified (Minimum Green Belt Certified) Skills:

  • Solid knowledge of procurement best practices and experience in managing a broad range of products in a global sourcing environment

  • Excellent leadership and project management skills to manage multi-disciplined teams, drive consensus, and coordinate implementation of complex enterprise-wide projects, in a timely and effective manner within a cross functional environment

  • Ability to develop, manage, and execute procurement strategies that drive financial and operational performance across all levels of the Supply Chain functions

  • In-depth understanding of contracts, compliance and government laws (domestic/international) relating to procurement functions

  • Capable of directing the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems, while applying advanced analytical thought and judgment

  • Solid quantitative skill and ability to analyze and communicate well-supported data

  • Superior written and oral communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence, while exercising sensitivity to the audience; excellent interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organization and time management skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management tools

  • Superior analytical negotiation skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills to champion and foster cross functional relationships to drive procurement strategy development and execution

This position requires lawful access to ITAR/EAR controlled information and employees in this role will need to meet those requirements. Requirements include US Citizenship, US Permanent Resident or ability to meet contract-specific licensure requirements.
