Micropump, Inc. is looking for an experienced Purchasing Agent to work in accordance with established policies, controls, accepted practices, recommends and initiates improved processes, procures and coordinates the procurement of materials, components, supplies, and services essential to the operation of the Company at the most economical costs and of timely delivery.
The Purchasing Agent works with the Supply Chain Manager to develop strategy and consolidate and manage supplier base while ensuring quality parts are purchased and delivered on-time. May participate in commodity strategy development by working with key stakeholders.
Selects suppliers for precision machined parts and services to drive value engineering and DMI projects. Negotiates price, terms, and conditions with suppliers to ensure proper cost management. Evaluates quotations for quality, delivery, and cost considerations. Purchases goods and services according to company policy.
Understands demand requirements, acts decisively to resolve supply chain constraints, and implements action plans with operational leadership.

Tracks market conditions of commodities purchased and communicates inflationary impacts to management. Works in close cooperation with key stakeholders in identifying cost reduction and capacity improvement opportunities.
Uses MRP/MPS to maintain proper inventory levels to meet stated goals of inventory while maintaining production schedules. Monitors turns by line item, supplier and commodity. Maintains lead times in MRP.
Responsible for vendor management; determines targets and action plans to achieve proper inventory levels to stated OTD and quality metrics. Assesses supplier performance and addresses deficiencies. Participates in and supports vendor/supplier audits and certification programs in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
Ensures proper inventory levels are maintained not impacting excess, obsolete and zero use inventory; manages in-bound shipments and selects best method of transport. Tracks and controls inbound freight costs ensuring negotiated pricing is being applied. Manages and monitors Kanban and consignment inventory programs as needed.
Recommends and implements system improvements related to Supply Chain Management such as reduce lead time and cost while maintaining quality products and the flow of materials into the organization by working with the Supply Chain Manager; understands and manages the extended value stream with assigned suppliers.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain Management or Strategic Procurement.
Experience in industrial manufacturing environment with a minimum of five-years’ experience in current purchasing/production methods; working knowledge of Import Controls
Ability to negotiate and manage optimum pricing and volume for assigned commodities.
Demonstrated knowledge and use of the written procedures, documents, and forms used to measure, analyze, report, and score supplier performance to stated requirements.
Excellent Excel and Access skills with demonstrated ability to analyze sources of data with minimal guidance.
Demonstrated JDE or other MRP knowledge and use required
APICS and or CPIM preferred
Knowledge and application of ISO standards preferred
Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing experience preferred
Ability to travel both nationally and internationally to vendor/supplier locations as required.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally is required
Must have authorization to work in the United States and ability to have lawful access to controlled technology as required for the position
