IDEX Receiving and Logistics Supervisor in Shelby, North Carolina

Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the Logistics Department . Responsible for providing internal customer service through the development of schedules and plans for the logistics area. Work with master production schedules and review/advise on all factors which affect production schedules. Focus on alignment of all logistics tools to ensure accuracy and efficiency in meeting all business metrics.

REPORTS TO: Supply Chain/Logistics Manager


  • Manage and oversee Shippers, Warehouse Specialists and/or Contract Labor including directing work, managing team and department accountability

  • Manage the development and execution of daily generated schedules; review schedules to determine and arrange priorities and scheduling sequences

  • Coordinate and collaborates with senior leadership and SMEs; and other key stakeholders to develop and revise operational planning documents.

  • Act as the primary contact for corporate logistics metrics, including but not limited to On Time Delivery, forecasted deliveries, and overall plant performance metrics. Providing input to management regarding concerns with shortages, process changes, and work-flow backlog

  • Provide advice, guidance, and recommendations to leadership on operational issues that significantly influence important plant policies and processes

  • Coordinate logistics portion of the physical inventory process

  • Maintain the 80/20 structure as the logistics stakeholder

  • Oversee both Finished Goods and Component level Kanban systems, minimizing inventory and transactional costs and improving overall plant efficiencies, focusing on level loading

  • Maintain the overall backlog system, maintaining clear and accurate feedback on ship dates and shortages of both internally manufactured and purchased components

  • Utilizes Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools to reduce process variation, eliminate non-value-added activities and defects and improve customer satisfaction.

  • Author internal plans, SOPs, and other operational planning products

  • Implement standard project management principles, including developing plans and schedules, estimating resource requirements, defining milestones and deliverables, monitoring activities, and evaluating and reporting on accomplishments

  • Develop organizational goals or objectives.

  • Determine resource needs.

  • Recommend organizational process or policy changes.

  • Manage environmental sustainability projects.

  • Plan warehouse layouts or designs.

Additional Safety Responsibilities

  • Participate and actively support the Occupational, Health and Safety (OH&S) management system (MS) program.

  • Accountable for supporting the (OH&S) policy.

  • Hold employees and supervisors accountable for following established health and safety procedures, rules and discuss EHS at the department level and supervisor meetings.

  • Ensure incident investigations are conducted within a timely manner.

  • Participate, as requested by the EHS Manager, in OH&S MS management reviews.

  • Responsible for understanding health and safety rules and procedures relevant to your job.

  • Responsible for reporting workplace hazards and all injuries, no matter how minor to your supervisor immediately.

  • Responsible for participating in health and safety training.


  • Minimum 3-year experience in Management or Supervisor role

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of applications and Fundamental PC database knowledge

  • Must be able to understand production drawings and read material requirements

  • Thorough understanding of MRP logic and inventory strategies

  • Experience with Oracle® JD Edwards software preferred

  • Ability to multi-task effectively and manage and/or support multiple projects concurrently

  • ISO 9001 experience

  • Background in LEAN and proven leadership in continuous improvement
