SUMMARY

Assists in the development and testing of machinery and equipment under direction of Engineering staff. Full time position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Sets up and performs testing and inspection of complete units and components under operational conditions and as prescribed by applicable regulatory codes and customer specifications, for quality control, performance data, and factory acceptance testing.

  • Maintains factory equipment, ensuring instrument calibration and coordination of repair and maintenance of equipment both internally or via external vendors so that the shop is fully operational. Assists in maintaining proper levels of tooling and or consumables for assembly technicians and fabricators.

  • Reviews project specifications and requirements with engineering staff, and assists with 3D modeling, design, drawings, and technical documentation. Provides recommendations to improve design or streamline manufacturing process.

  • Records test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or test method. Tracks records or provides ability to trace documentation.

  • Maintains knowledge of plant’s processes, techniques, tools, materials, machines and equipment. Assists in supervision of assembly and fabrication personnel, to ensure products are created to match the design specifications and requirements. Provides recommendations in selecting the correct fabrication process or techniques for continuous improvement of the product and manufacturing efficiency.

  • Works closely with fabricators and shop staff, assists in setup, measurement, and assembly process as needed.

  • Assists with proper use of inventory and tracking of materials used in the manufacturing or testing process. Alerts engineering/purchasing staff when inventory must be replaced or restocked.

  • Assists with the programming and testing of electrical devices and industrial controls. Able to safely work with high voltage power and powered equipment.

  • Assists with writing and compiling of test reports, operating manuals, inspection forms, and other project related documentation.

  • Models IDEX business goals for quality and customer focus by successfully fulfilling the role of a functional team member. Models IDEX business philosophy be demonstrating respect for coworkers on a daily business.

  • Occasional use of forklifts, lift trucks, pallet jacks, etc. Training will be provided.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Experience in manufacturing operations and testing

  • Demonstratable mechanical aptitude with hand and basic power tools.

  • Ability to read blueprints and use various types of measuring equipment.

  • Ability to use and/or learn various forms of CAD software.

  • Basic computer skills for using lab related software and MS Office.

  • Basic knowledge of electrical devices and circuitry, and industrial controls.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associate degree in Engineering or related field preferred.

  • Certificate of completion for relevant courses from a technical or vocational school, and/or an associate degree in Mechanical Engineering technology. Preferred, not required.

  • Experience in a shop/manufacturing environment, minimum 1-2 years preferred.

  • Occasional field travel to customer or vendor sites.

  • Some heavy lifting, up to 60lbs.

  • Required to wear safety glasses and utilize other safety equipment as required while present on the shop floor.
