JOB TITLE: Testing Manager

REPORTING TO: Director of Engineering– Chromatography

LOCATION: Location: Rohnert Park, CA


These positions may require lawful access to ITAR/EAR controlled information and employees in this role will need to meet those requirements. Requirements include US Citizenship or US Permanent Resident.

As a Testing Manager you will be responsible for managing and coordinating testing resources, execution of product testing, technical guidance, and development of test capabilities for the Chromatography product line. The team develops electromechanical hardware to support chromatography, mass spectrometry, and all related analytical instrumentations.

This key role requires a collaborative individual with strong organization and communication skills. The right individual will have a demonstrated track record of working with cross-functional teams to evaluate and verify product design requirements and support the transfer testing methodologies into a production environment


  • Ownership of schedules and capacity plans for lab personnel and equipment for current and future needs

  • Manage and mentor lab personnel with skill development and career growth opportunities

  • Participate in product development teams as the lead taking responsibility for testing integrity and completeness

  • Work with other engineers and project scientists to develop test plans and procedures to quantify product performance and reliability

  • Design engineering solutions to test and evaluate products based on established engineering principles and in accordance with provided specifications and requirements

  • Drive standardization in test methodologies, equipment design, process approach, and documentation best practices

  • Assist in the resolution of customer issues by providing trouble shooting, testing and analysis

  • Collaborate and communicate with management, internal, and outsourced testing and development partners regarding testing status, project progress, test results, and issue resolution

  • Work with IDEX manufacturing engineering for successful transfer of testing and calibration methods into production

  • Prepare quality system documentation related to testing and checklists including IQ/OQ for test equipment

  • Embraces continuous improvement to elevate the quality of technical assessment and realize operational efficiencies in the testing environment

  • Develop and execute on preventive maintenance and calibration protocols

  • Identify capital needs to not only maintain but expand analysis and testing capabilities

  • Ensures availability of consumable test materials and preventative maintenance supplies


  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or technical discipline

  • 5+ years of experience in product development in a multidisciplinary environment

  • Strong background in ISO-9000 certified quality systems

  • Demonstrated record of problem solving and troubleshooting of electromechanical systems

  • Working experience with statistical data analysis strongly desired

  • Experience in C / C++ and/or Python software environments a plus

  • Experience in developing and working with LabVIEW based test systems a plus
