SUMMARY

Manufacturing Manager is responsible for overall manufacturing operations including facilities. The Manufacturing Manager has direct responsibility for structuring, supervising and leading manufacturing operations to achieve product quality, on-time delivery, continuous improvement and cost reduction goals. The Manufacturing Manager is responsible to develop and maintain a culture of improvement and learning while achieving customer expectations.

  • Annual operating plan (Budget)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Manage all production processes to assure that manufacturing consistently ships top quality product to customers on time.

  • Assure implementation of and conformance with all applicable safety standards.Develop and implement programs to eliminate safety and/or ergonomic hazards.

  • Write Job Descriptions, establish performance standards and measures for each job to clearly communicate to employee the job expectations.

  • Write and conduct performance appraisals in accordance with Company policies and procedures to provide feedback on past performance and to establish new goals for the employee in concert with those of the Company

  • Develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement for all team members consistent with the CI Director’s expectations

  • Relentless drive toward 1-piece flow, simple visual management, defined standards and clear expectations for all team members

  • Develop and maintain a culture of building quality into our processes and eliminate unplanned scrap/rework

  • Maintain effective accountability for the performance of all team members

  • Develop and maintain a culture of training/learning and investment in team members

  • Develop the capabilities of supervisors, value stream leaders and resource managers to embrace and carry out the behaviors noted above

  • Proactive management of facilities requirements including janitorial services

  • When necessary, conduct employee counseling sessions and disciplinary actions, after coordinating with Human Resources to work within the accepted practices of the organization and provide opportunity for the employee to correct performance problems

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated operational experience with results driven through continuous improvement with sustained results

  • Experienced, well trained practitioner of the continuous improvement culture/techniques

  • Ability to develop and implement creative solutions to systems and processes

  • Must be able to lead and drive change of production operations.Must be results oriented.Must be innovative, and able to implement conceived innovations

  • Track record of superior quality by virtue of problem solving techniques

  • Acts consistently as a teacher, developing a mix of skills and abilities in the organization

  • Business Savvy Must understand how actions impact the IH&S business (growth, cost, working capital and profit) both in the short and long term.

  • Ability to work through conflict and appreciate the points of view of other functions inside and outside of the Oak Harbor organization

  • Functional computer literacy with standard Microsoft Office software (Word and Excel).Demonstrated understanding of ERP software concepts

  • Must have excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5+ years of Operational leadership / Continuous Improvement experience

  • Effective communication, both verbal and with PC based tools

  • Strong coaching and training ability

  • Lean Certified preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Manufacturing environment

  • Possible overtime

  • Travel to customer locations as needed.
