Position Description:

In support of its expanding business, IDEX Health and Science is looking for a well rounded person to join its manufacturing team in the role of Sr. Buyer Planner. The Senior Buyer Planner will be responsible for complex procurement, planning, and scheduling activities associated with IH&S build demand. This person will be required to interface closely with customer teams in a solutions-oriented partnership to deliver a competitive performance advance with accelerated time to market and Supply Chain reliability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the ERP system to formulate procurement and planning strategies that are in alignment with the company’s objectives.

  • Create and manage RFQ proposal packages

  • Communicate with suppliers and support groups to drive to a 90 plus percent on time delivery metric.

  • Maintain and drive to improve the manufacturing metrics and KPI’s that link directly to IDEX’s top line objectives.

  • Determine customer needs and set delivery dates based on incoming orders, kanban needs and production capacity

  • Schedule equipment and prioritize work orders on the manufacturing floor

  • Responsible for managing inventory levels through obsolesce review and measured by the products inventory turns.

  • Set up and maintain manufacturing jobs and templates in ERP

  • Maintain the Bill of Materials and manufacturing operations in ERP.

  • Communicate with senior management regarding the capabilities, capacity and lead-times.

  • Negotiate favorable purchase variances with each of the key suppliers

  • Key success factors will be in managing the Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost metrics assigned to each product line. Key success factors in this role will be the overall Logistics team goals surrounding on time delivery, material spend, and factory cycle times.

  • On-Time Delivery: The key focus area for 2018/2019 is improving the OTD and lead-times for our top 5 customers

  • Material Spend: Simplify the material ordering process using make-buy decision techniques and through successful negotiation with our current supplier base.

  • Purchase Price Variances: Negotiate with key suppliers to reduce overall material spend while improving quality and delivery.

  • The opportunity will require a mix of manufacturing, technical, and computer skills.The right person will enjoy the challenge of a dynamic, small company environment and be able to efficiently create the manufacturing schedules for the different manufacturing departments based on sales and forecast needs.



Success in this position calls for a detail oriented person who has very strong organizational skills and an excellent work ethic. The person should have experience in a manufacturing environment and a familiarity with MRP or ERP systems.

Qualified candidates will have a 4 year college degree in a related discipline along with an APIC’s certification (preferred).

The ability to work in a small team environment is required, so we will be looking for evidence of strong written and oral communication skills as well as a willingness to tackle any challenge. The right individual will also show strong initiative and will be able to work with minimal supervision.

This position is based in Rochester, New York. Some weekend and second shift support will be required. All applicants must be permanent residents or have existing work permits.
