The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design of new and current Pulsafeeder products, while working in a fast-paced, goal-driven, team environment. It is essential the Engineer is well versed in the methods of rapid new product development and demonstrate creativity, problem solving, and independent judgement.
- Engineers current, new, or resulting products:
oDevelops and executes a new product development plan in accordance with Pulsafeeder process.
oWorks with Marketing to transform requirements into product specifications.
oApplies creativity and advanced Mechanical Engineering theories, methods, and techniques to achieve reliable and cost effectively compliant design.
oDesigns in compliance with applicable agency standards (e.g. API675, CE, ATEX, IECEx)
oWorks hands-on to develop, test and evaluates product designs.
oPrepares and presents project and technical design reviews.
oDevelops design validation test plans.Oversees/performs lab testing and documents test results.
oWorks cross functionally with Supply Chain and Quality to evaluate parts manufactured.
oParticipates in manufacturing work instruction creation and training.
oAssists in the development of customer facing documentation including cut sheets, user manuals and product selection guides.
oWorks with Sales, Marketing and external customers to ensure the product solution meets the customer’s expectations and requirements.
Investigates, prepares and implements engineering change notices.
Provides technical consultation with factory and field company personnel, customers, and distributors.
Makes intellectual property disclosures and assist company with applications.
Willing and able to undertake domestic and international travel in support of business needs.
Assists with other projects as needed by management
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
High proficiency in solid modeling and analysis (Solidworks preferred, FEA/CFD)
Working knowledge of hydraulic systems including operation, design and integration of instrumentation
1 3 years of experience designing mechanical systems
Intermediate knowledge of positive displacement pumps, mechanical seals, and electrical instrumentation
Experience designing for conventional manufacturing methods - sand, investment and die casting, CNC machining and injection molded plastic manufacturing. Experience with additive manufacturing (3D printing) methods desirable.
Experience with electro-mechanical assemblies desirable
Familiarity with API675 agency standards desirable
Familiarity with DFSS, DFM, FMEA, and Risk Assessment methodologies
BS in Mechanical Engineering
At least 1 3+ years related design experience
Strong project management and multi-tasking skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to build strong peer and customer relationships
Ability to work independently and proactively to manage multiple projects
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, assignments, and projects simultaneously
