IDEX Health & Science, LLC is based in Rochester, New York. IDEX Health & Science’s line of products is comprised of a Light Sources Group, an Optical Systems Group and an Optical Filters Group. The Light Sources Group manufactures a variety of low to moderate power lasers and laser-based systems uniquely designed for consistent performance. The Optical Filters Group offers filters with industry leading performance for scientific and medical devices. The Optical Systems Group provides the design, prototype and manufacturing of custom lens assemblies and optical systems.

The Optical Filters Group develops and manufactures high-performance optical thin-film filters that set the standard for biotech and analytical instrumentation. The Optical Filters Group produces revenue from both the volume OEM sales of tailored products and from the sales of standard catalog products to end-users. Semrock’s optical filter products are set apart by their state-of-the-art performance and reliability. Major markets include optical filters for fluorescence imaging and measurement systems, for Raman spectroscopy systems, and for laser-based analytical instrumentation.


The Company seeks Maintenance Associates who will be on the front line of manufacturing these components. The associate’s job will be to support the uptime of the coating process by helping to keep the coating equipment up and running efficiently. This work will include doing scheduled PM’s, precision assembling of hardware, logging maintenance data, sandblasting, and various other mechanical tasks. Some work will be done inside a Cleanroom environment.



  • Strong work ethic and willing to doing repetitive task.

  • Proficient in general maintenance practices.

  • Ability to build precision assemblies with tight tolerances.

  • Proficient in using Hand tools, gauges and precision measuring devices

  • Ability to quickly learn new skills with strong desire to learn

  • Team player with solid communication skills.

  • Ability to read, follow and understand written procedures.

  • Basic computer literacy is a must.

  • Must be able to lift at least 70 lbs.


  • Experience working with vacuum coating equipment in a production environment is ideal.

  • Experience in precision assembly highly desirable

  • Experience in a machine shop is useful

  • Electrical / electronic background a plus

  • Advanced computer skills are valuable.Work hours, 3:00pm 11:30pm, Monday thru Friday (May require weekends and overtime on occasions)
