IDEX Customer Service Representative in Punta Gorda, Florida

The Customer Service Representative delivers exceptional service for our customers by communicating product and service information, resolving product and service issues and managing quotes/order requests to make it easier for customers to do business with us. This position reports to the Customer Service Manager and has no direct reports.


The principle responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to, the following:

a.Provide quotations and application assistance for customer inquiries, ensuring that field sales reps are made aware of any quotation activity for necessary follow-up.

b.Process inbound sales orders within JDE (Oracle based) business system.

c.Obtain and maintain contact information for existing customer base and new accounts.

d.Provide account management (routine calls, feedback surveys) for small accounts, as assigned.

e.Make recommendations to Customer Service Manager regarding services and programs to foster relationships and grow sales.

f.Manage customer issues (warranty requests, product credits, disputes, etc) within the boundaries of the company policies.

g.Make joint sales calls with distributor sales or service personnel to foster relationships with key customers.

Essential and Primary Functions:

  • Enter between 30-50 purchase orders per day accurately and efficiently

  • Handle up to 30 inbound phone calls per day from customers and sales reps

  • Provide pricing, order status, and shipping information

  • Process return material authorizations and credits

  • Professionally resolves internal and external customer issues promptly and thoroughly

  • Any other duties assigned by the Customer Service Manager


  • High School graduate or related education and / or equivalent experience

  • 1-3 years customer service or related experience required

  • Basic knowledge with MS Outlook, Word and Excel


  • Customer oriented; demonstrated customer obsession in previous role(s)

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced team environment

  • Driven, Energetic, and customer-focused

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills

  • Ability to solve problem creatively for customers

  • Proficient in data entry - position requires high degree of accuracy

  • Detail/Action Oriented

  • Versatile and able to handle multiple tasks (e.g. customer calls, data entry, email).

  • Must be able to work in the US on an ongoing basis
