The Quality Engineer will provide hands on assistance to quality function on assigned duties and production lines to ensure product is designed, manufactured in accordance with AFS requirements. In addition, the quality engineer shall be responsible for supporting ISO compliance, supplier quality management, continual improvement activities and achieving company/quality goals.
Quality Engineer shall have a fundamental understanding of a quality system and its development, documentation, and implementation with respect to standards or requirements.
Participate in the review of all design, manufacturing, and test documentation to ensure those requirements are fulfilled. This includes but not limited to: review of product drawing and specifications, work instructions, processes/ procedures and test procedures,
Perform Quality planning and assurance associated with engineering changes (ECN) including process flow, statistical and process control.
Participate in the maintenance of AFS’s ISO 9000/14001 Registration and other Regulatory certifications.
Play a key role in the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of the AFS quality system.
Hands on in problem-solving and quality improvement tools and techniques.
Analyze and investigate the root cause of external and internal non-conforming product, system deficiencies.
Initiate and coordinate corrective actions, verification of effectiveness such as actions for customer complaints and internal/external supplier non-conformances.
Facilitate or maintain departmental representative in AFS’s inter-departmental programs; including Change Management (kaizen events, Deviations, etc.), MRB, Calibration, and Internal audits.
Supplier quality performance monitoring and reporting through supplier scorecard metrics.
PPAP coordination of direct supplier material, review and disposition of supplier PPAP
Train associates in necessary quality techniques.
Conducts capability studies, Gage R&R(MSA) and follow up with Corrective actions
Quality records maintenance to support the AFS`s Quality Management System.
Support Quality assurance activities of all including process assessment, process control plans, PFMEAs, inspection plans, and statistical data
Ensuring safety requirements are met within each process or activity
Ability to work as part of the quality team and in close coordination with other teams within the manufacturing facility
Performs other duties as required
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description, and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety to self and co-workers
Bachelor of Science in Engineering
Minimum 5 years of experience in quality department in a manufacturing plant
Knowledge and understanding of ISO 9000 quality standards.
Working knowledge of various SPC techniques, Advance Quality Planning, PPAP and RCA tools.
Ability to use various measurement devices.
Six Sigma Black or Green Belt preferred
2-5 years in a quality related field
Quality systems development
Knowledge of CMM/ programming
Machining, Casting and assembly (electronics and mechanical)
Statistical analysis/Six Sigma Methodologies
Supplier and Internal Quality and Performance of audits

Exposure to manufacturing environment. Noise level may vary from moderate office environment to noisy/loud in the plant area. Proper use of safety equipment such as steel-toed shoes, goggles, safety glasses, gloves, apron and face shield must be observed.
