As a leading manufacturer of industrial compressors, pumps, bypass valves, and accessories, Corken specializes in custom compressor packaging and pump skids designed for liquefied gas transfer, liquid transfer, air boosting, and vapor recovery applications within the process gas, energy, and transport industries.


Design new products and manage new product development projects and teams to meet market requirements. Provide technical support to internal and external customers. Directs the cross-functional design team to complete assigned engineering projects in accordance with specifications while adhering to schedule and budget limitations.

Essential Functions

Design new products and redesign/modify existing components and products

Manage project schedules working with marketing, manufacturing, procurement to launch products

Investigate design concepts proposed by marketing i.e. feasibility, cost, function, and operating parameters/limitations

Plan, design and document new products by performing calculations, making layouts, drawings, creating programs, qualifying new parts (capability analysis, verification/validation) and processes

Work with lab technicians to write, perform and summarize test data Cradle to Grave product development process

Present project updates to senior management

Investigate/create engineering change requests to improve product, correct errors, facilitate production, and reduce cost.

Modify existing product documentation in order to realize change requests, R&D and/or customer complaints

Perform First Article Approvals on internal and external components and products

Communicate the need for, final review and document all testing performed on mechanical or electro-mechanical designs by production

Develop and maintain a detailed technical understanding of fluid metering processes and technologies

Performs other duties as required

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description, and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety to self and co-workers

Qualifications: Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

0 - 7 yrs. experience in product design engineering

Preferred Education and Experience

Design experience in Meters, Registers, Compressors, pumps, electromechanical devices

CAD Training and Experience in Pro-E, Wildfire, and Intralink

Working knowledge of various regulatory agencies/standards (UL, CSA, CE, ATEX, EAC, etc.)

Competent in several of the following (knowledgeable in all); Mechanical Components: pressure vessels; bearings; gears; springs; clutches; shafts; keys; mechanisms; and mechatronics.

Joints and Fasteners: welding and brazing; bolts, screws and rivets; adhesives and soldering; pipe threads; snap rings; and interference fits

Vibration/Dynamic Analysis: natural frequencies; damping; vorced vibrations; vibration isolation; and dynamic analysis;

Materials Properties, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer Principles, Mass Balance Principles, and Thermodynamics

Strength of materials: stress-strain; yield strength; ASME/ASTM Properties

Fatigue theory and Stress Analysis

Codes and Standards: ASME/ASTM; PED; CRN; etc.

Work Environment

Exposure to manufacturing environment. Noise level may vary from moderate office environment to noisy/loud in the plant area. Proper use of safety equipment such as steel-toed shoes, goggles, safety glasses, gloves, apron and face shield must be observed.
