IDEX Electronic Service Technician in Ocala, Florida

The Electronic Service Technician is responsible for administering the company’s RGA and service procedures, as they apply, in accordance with the company’s quality system. The Electronic Service Technician is also responsible for complying with the company’s quality system procedures as documented.


  • Evaluate and repair customer returned goods and materials

  • To inspect, modify, repair, and test circuit boards using appropriate soldering equipment, techniques and tools to meet company standards

  • Hand soldering through hole and surface mount and repairing hardware/software components

  • Remove, repair and replace surface mount components

  • Perform functional analysis of hardware/software repairs

  • Remove and reapply conformal coating to circuit boards

  • Report and document the inspection, diagnostic, and repair activities and findings

  • Examine the device for cosmetic defects per company standards

  • Visually inspect the printed circuit boards (PCB's) to determine required methods of repair

  • Perform quality control testing of finished parts utilizing established company methods and equipment

  • Assist customer service in developing policies and providing customer support.

  • Complete service documents and perform data entry as required by the company’s quality system.

  • Follow written test procedures to set up and test products for failures

  • Read circuit board schematics to aid in troubleshooting and pinpoint defective components

  • Interpret customer supplied failure complaints to determine required testing to duplicate the failure

  • Work together with customer service and engineering departments to obtain required information or assistance to complete required tasks


  • Should have a two-year degree in electronics and two-four years related experience.

  • Military training may be substituted for these requirements.

  • Two-four years’ experience in testing and repairing a broad range of digital and analog circuits.

  • One (1) year minimum required of experience with micro-soldering and surface mount soldering/de-soldering .

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent

  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows and basic applications

  • Excellent written and communication skills

  • Strong team player

  • Ability to follow policies and procedures

  • Ability to use small/precision hand and hot air rework tools to handle small electronic components

  • Must possess visual acuity, i.e., close, distance, and color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

  • Basic knowledge of using electronic tools for troubleshooting such as DC volt/ohm meters, adjustable power supplies and oscilloscopes
