The Operations Manager will lead a diverse team across the full production value stream, including Receiving Parts, Scheduling Orders, Assembling & Packing Products and Shipping Products to customers. In addition to leading the onsite operations for the new unit business, the Operations Manager will be responsible for the fulfilment of Spare & Aftermarket Parts. The Operations Manager will collaborate with Purchasing, Quality, and EHS Managers to ensure the plant meets its business objectives & sales targets.
Reporting Relationships: Direct to the Vice President of Operations
Roles and Responsibilities
SALES & ORDER FULFILMENT
Leads teams related to scheduling, execution & fulfillment of sales orders
Monitors job progress and ensures production orders are completed on a timely basis
LEADERSHIP & STAFFING
Leads a team of Supervisors, Team Leads and front-line manufacturing employees
Sets clear operational targets, hires & develops talent, and leads performance reviews
Monitors labor utilization and production needs to ensure team is correctly staffed. Takes actions to allocate resources, train employees, and close any internal skill gaps.
8020 & OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Drives the adoption of 80/20 and continuous improvement to increase capacity and reduce operating costs.
Implements best practices in production planning, standard work, and shop-floor housekeeping.
Analyzes data and takes action to reduce order lead time, improve production planning, and increase operational capacity.
Skills and Qualifications (Required)
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or any other relevant degree
7 - 10 years of relevant experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment
Previous responsibility for the safety, quality, production, people management and maintenance of a production unit
Advanced knowledge of 80/20 and Lean tools
Experience working with site certifications such as ISO9001 and ISO14001
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to effectively present information to employees, customers, and management.
Good working knowledge of ERP systems (prefer JDE) and Microsoft Excel
Skills and Qualifications (Preferred)
MBA or MS in a technical field (preferred)
Experience in highly engineered mechanical products (preferred)
