IDEX IT Director in Mansfield, Ohio

This hands-on position will provide vision and leadership in the development and implementation of the company-wide technology initiatives. As a highly collaborative leader and effective team builder, you will work closely with all departments to provide solutions that are suited to company needs while aligning the solutions with business goals and budget. Primary responsibility of this role is to identify, develop, and implement both strategic and tactical initiatives to better connect back end operational processes to front end commercial growth initiatives. An ideal candidate will have a strong understanding and concentration in IT systems including ERP (Order to Cash), application development, business intelligence, infrastructure, network and telephony, and service delivery.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Recommend information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization gaps; identify problems; evaluate trends; anticipate requirements.

  • Better integrate JDEdwards into operational processes and reporting

  • Direct day-to-day management of IT staff and ensure the effective operation of IT systems with minimum downtime or impact on the operations of the business; Responsible for goal setting and priority setting, performance evaluation, and day to day activities of the IT team

  • Maintain high employee engagement through career development, recognition, and high-level leadership.

  • Partner with the Digitalization and Commercial teams to understand and support the business initiatives.

  • Plan, develop, implement, manage projects for 3rd party in house or external software packages to support lean, 80/20, and manufacturing initiatives for the site.

  • Develop an annual budget for the IT department including all hardware and software needs.

  • Build, deliver and manage local support and training plans for all software packages. Ensure proper configuration, performance and hardware efficiency of local business unit applications and coordinate resolution of system related problems with hardware/software suppliers or local developers or IDEX service providers.

  • Implement appropriate measures to remain in compliance with IDEX security policies, requirements for Sarbanes Oxley and other directives from Corporate IT.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Four year college degree or equivalent work experience with specialization in business administration.


  • 5-10 years’ experience in a similar sized, multi-site operation, including manufacturing.

  • 2-3 years’ experience with JDE modules.

  • 5-7 years’ experience in a managerial role in an IT/applications environment.

  • Prior project management and ERP implementation experience preferred.


  • Goal oriented self-starter.

  • Strong leadership skill set.

  • Ability to initiate and drive positive change in an organization.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Ability to gather, analyze and present data.

  • Ability to supervise and direct employees on financial and system projects.

  • Ability to provide direction and establish priorities for direct reports as well as provide proper feedback and critical evaluations of personal and departmental performance.

  • Experienced trainer – to support end user training - both remote training and classroom instruction.

  • Experience with drafting Functional Requirements document for modifications/enhancements to business applications.

  • Certifications in project management, training, APICS or other professional skill development areas is helpful.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Working knowledge of all manufacturing, financial, distribution and related modules in the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (E1) product Suite and subsequent releases (9.1, 9.2, etc).

  • Experience with process mapping and use of productivity applications such as Visio, Office tools, etc.

Work Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to move within office and manufacturing complex.

  • Perform general office functions.

  • Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone and in person.

  • Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.

  • General manufacturing, warehouse, and office environment.

Organizational Relationships:

  • Warren Rupp General Manager, Senior Leadership Staff, Departmental Managers and Supervisors.

  • IDEX Executive Office, mainly the IDEX Information Technology Team.

  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers, and all levels of corporate and company personnel.
