This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-brand environment—where attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and cross-functional coordination are essential to keeping production moving and ensuring our team members work safely every day. If you excel at balancing operational execution with safety accountability, and you’re energized by working on the production floor, this is the opportunity to make a direct impact while benefiting from the support and strength of a well-established industry leader.

Job Summary

The Production Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring seamless material flow across a newly consolidated operation. This position is central to the successful integration of two brands into one shared manufacturing space, with particular focus on supporting the fast-paced, high-urgency processes required by Champion Valves — known for its speed and responsiveness.

This is a highly visible, hands-on role on the production floor. While this position does not lead site-wide EH&S programs, it is essential that the Production Coordinator consistently champions safe work practices and reinforces safety as a top priority for themselves and others.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Production Coordination & Material Flow

  • Own the material flow process for two distinct product lines, ensuring smooth integration of both businesses into a single, efficient workflow.

  • Prioritize and expedite products requiring 3rd party modification, ensuring these items move out and back into the facility without delays.

  • Build flexible material handling processes that can adapt to fast-changing priorities and frequent urgent orders.

  • Maintain exceptional real-time communication between production, inventory, and shipping/receiving to manage shifting needs from both businesses.

  • Understand each value stream’s unique scheduling, packaging, and vendor requirements — customizing material flow processes to meet them.

  • Operate forklifts and order pickers to pull, stage, and store materials.

  • Deliver parts to cells and remove finished goods for shipping.

  • Manage incoming shipments: receive, verify counts, process in JDE/RF Smart, and stage appropriately.

  • Perform inventory transactions, including transfers, backflushes, cycle counts, and resolving negative reports.

  • Maintain 6S in all material handling and staging areas.

  • Expedite priority orders in coordination with production and purchasing teams.

  • Consolidate customer shipments and ensure correct documentation (BOLs, packing lists, hazmat paperwork).

  • Ensure materials for all work cells are prepped and staged in the correct sequence.

  • Collaborate with value stream leads to monitor production schedules and address material shortages.

  • Support physical inventory and cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory records.

Safety Awareness & Accountability

  • Consistently model safe work behaviors on the production floor.

  • Participate in and support safety audits, observations, and improvement initiatives led by the site EH&S team.

  • Immediately report unsafe conditions or behaviors and take action to prevent incidents.

  • Reinforce PPE use, safe material handling, and adherence to safety policies as part of daily operations.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • 3–5 years in manufacturing, production coordination, or logistics roles.

  • Experience working in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities — ideally involving external vendor support.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient with ERP/MRP systems (JDE and RF Smart experience strongly preferred).

  • Forklift and material handling equipment experience required (trainer-level certification preferred).

  • Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint proficiency (ability to create reports, track metrics, and communicate clearly).

Soft Skills

  • Extremely organized — capable of managing multiple value streams, overlapping deadlines, and diverse product requirements.

  • Strong sense of urgency — thrives in environments where priorities change hourly.

  • Clear communicator — able to keep departments aligned in real-time.

  • Proactive mindset — anticipates issues and acts ahead of time.

  • Strong safety advocate — promotes a safe work environment through example and action.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and moving materials.

  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, temperature variations, and moving machinery.

Certifications

  • Forklift Operator Certification (preferred – can obtain after start).
