IDEX Business Line Leader- Level Monitoring in Huntsville, Alabama

Successfully guide and lead the strategic growth and profitability, providing day-to-day leadership and coaching of their Business Line team, including sales, product strategy, assigned engineering and procurement resources, and Inside Sales / Customer Service. Focus to include P&L responsibility for the Business Line, with a focus on Customer Obsession and an 8020 mindset.

This position will be responsible for the execution of the AOP (orders & sales) plan for Level Monitoring, and execution of the annual strategic plan and long-term growth initiatives for this business segment.


Business Line Leadership

  • Responsible for Business Line Orders, Sales, and Margin Annual Operating Plan (AOP) Commitments.

  • Develop commercial tactics and strategies to drive growth and Customer Obsession across the business line.

  • Deploy 8020 to optimize offer complexity and manage product life cycles

  • Formulate, execute, and maintain business line strategies, product plans, and roadmaps based on market insight. Own the annual, 3-year Strategic Growth Plan.

  • Foster a culture of Customer Obsession and Partnering with our customers, channel partners, Business Line team, and peer organizations across ADS.

  • Deployment and operation of Value-Based Pricing solutions across the business Line, consistent with IDEX Pricing Initiatives:

  • Identify opportunities for new processes and tools which, once implemented, will help improve productivity, reduce response time, and improve customer obsession.

  • Work collaboratively with other departments across the ADS org to drive growth and team engagement.

  • Ability to travel 25% - 50%, depending on business needs.


  • Overall responsibility for:

  • Sales Management

  • Manages Level Monitoring Sales Team

  • Work with Regional Sales Managers to continuously optimize our global network of Channel Partners (Agents and Distributors)

  • Product Management

  • Product line definition and life cycle management

  • Product line investment prioritization (align tightly to strategy and roadmaps)

  • Inside Sales and Customer service

  • Manages customer service, quote support, and order/project management team

  • Oversee and own Business Line Orders and Sales forecasts, and tactical plan required to achieve or surpass forecasted results.


  • Guide product and technology roadmap development and maintenance

  • Guide NPD prioritization and investment in alignment with strategic plan and market conditions

  • Ensure timely delivery of strategic and customer-based NPD projects

  • Define, launch, and track new products


  • Collaborate with the GM and Senior Leadership Team to develop strategic plans for the Business Line

  • Communicate and reinforce strategic plan execution to Business Line and ADS overall.

Key Metrics:

  • Business Line Orders, Sales, and Margin

  • Year over year revenue growth, profit growth, and price.

  • Market Share / Growth

  • Employee / Team Engagement (iSay)

Serve as a key member of the ADS senior leadership.

  • Participate in all company-wide planning processes including strategic plans, annual operating plans, monthly business reviews, and goal deployment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • B.S./B.A. in Business, Engineering, or a related field. MBA Preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Sales / Marketing, Product Development, and/or Product Management roles in the hardware/software space in the water or wastewater end markets.

  • Outstanding customer facing communications and interaction skills.

  • Experience managing equipment sales via a network of independent Channel Partners is strongly preferred

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing, engineering or Lean manufacturing environment is desired.

  • Experience with developing long term strategic growth plans is also desired.


  • Demonstrated ability and experience working in a dynamic, deadline-oriented environment is required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills are required.

  • Ability to interact clearly and confidently with all levels of the organization, as well as with external sales representatives, customers, vendors, and others as required.

  • A Customer Obsession, Continuous Improvement, and 8020 Mindset is required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.

Physical Environment and Environmental Factors

  • Frequently required to stand, sit, talk, and hear

  • Must be able to work in front of a computer for a large portion of the day

  • Occasional travel to customer sites and/or other regions to better understand market trends and customer needs.

  • May occasionally lift items 20lbs or less
