IDEX Payroll Specialist in Farmington, Connecticut

Job Title : Payroll Specialist

Location: Farmington, CT

Mission: Deliver reliable, accurate and timely payroll services to Mott’s valued employees and ensure compliance with regulatory bodies.

The company has tripled in size over the last 5 years and is poised for significant expansion over the next 5 years .

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Execute all aspects of payroll processing (including off-cycle payroll transactions) for multiple company codes.

  2. Liaise with third-party payroll processor for international employee(s).

  3. Calculation of employee profit sharing, sales incentive and 401K employer match.

  4. Ensure compliance with multi-state and international payroll tax laws and best practices, including ability research solutions to resolve complex tax matters independently.

  5. Support quarterly and annual reporting activities such as 940 and 941 reports, W-2s, etc.

  6. Ongoing maintenance of employee benefits and 401K plan related activities – such as 401K loans, weekly confirmation of employee 401K deferral transmittals, administration and coordination with HSA and FSA providers, and employee tuition reimbursement and computer loan program.

  7. Support data extraction, internal controls, data quality and ad hoc payroll projects and internal payroll audits.

  8. Serve as main point of contact and coordinator of the annual benefit plan audit.

Major Challenges:

  1. Managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  2. Mott was recently acquired and is in a transitional period; various platforms, policies and processes are expected to change within the next year.

  3. Management of three payrolls with different pay frequencies and a diverse workforce spanning across approx. 20 states and an international presence.

Expected Performance Outcomes:

  1. Accurate and timely processing of payroll related activities.

  2. Implementation of automation solutions within payroll cycle.

  3. Contribute to continuous analysis and improvement of all payroll processes and procedures, including related operational processes.

  4. Successful implementation of Workday and transition from ADP.

Technical Knowledge/Skills:

  1. Experience with Workday and ADP.

  2. Advanced Microsoft Excel experience.

  3. Experience with Oracle Netsuite ERP is a plus.

  4. Exceptional analytical skills coupled with a solid understanding of business dynamics.

  5. Proficiency in multi-state payroll tax compliance matters.

  6. Proven track record of delivering on commitments, and working closely and effectively with peers and leaders cross-functionally.

Required Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in relevant concentration.

  2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a payroll role.

  3. Experience with multi-state payroll required, experience in a global capacity is a plus.

  4. Experience with system implementations preferred.
