BUSINESS UNIT SUMMARY (BAND-IT)

Founded in Denver, Colorado in 1937, BAND-IT is acknowledged as the world's

leader in quality engineered band clamping systems. A unit of IDEX

Corporation, BAND-IT has an international network of representatives and

distributors with manufacturing and distribution facilities serving users

worldwide. BAND-IT manufactures stainless steel clamping systems, band and

buckle, preformed clamps, hand and power application tools, hose fittings,

clamping kits, stainless steel cable ties and identification systems.

BAND-IT specializes in Cable Bundling, Hose Attachment, Safety &

Identification, Sign Hanging, Maintenance & Security Fencing, Disaster

Recovery, Fleet Maintenance, Government, Insulation, Fluid

Transfer/Material Handling, Traffic Management, Hose Repair, HVAC, Water

Removal, and Energy.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for continuous

improvement initiatives by deploying a variety of lean tools, processes,

and concepts that improve business performance. This role also facilitates

associate involvement at all levels in continuous improvement activities.

This role will partner with all top business line leaders to drive

transactional and manufacturing improvements. This individual will also

serve as the liaison to manufacturing for all ECR (Engineering change

request) and serve as the engineering representative in the APQP process

(creating basic tooling designs and drawings); this role will funnel all

change requests through the MCCB (Management Change Control Board) for

review. As the top CI lead, this person will oversee all lean operations

initiatives/lean goal deployment-related objectives. The CI Engineer will

also direct, coordinate and actively participate in the Lean project

ideation funnel, the evaluation and ranking of projects, the project

initiation and execution, and regular project tracking, updates, and visual

posting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Continue to evolve the OPEX process within the business with key leaders

and ensure the use of the lean/CI tools in daily management

  • Create and Deploy plant wide 5s program

  • Deploy lean tools and growth tools throughout the organization

  • Determine tooling needs and designs on mechanical equipment. Funneling

design concepts through MCCB

  • Develop and execute action plans and improvement targets.

  • Facilitate cadence process aligning leadership team on transformation

roadmap

  • Generate and maintain project schedules/metric tracking

  • Helps to promote a positive work culture aligned with the IDEX Values and

drives to improve employee engagement

  • Lead and facilitate kaizen events as needed

  • Manufacturing liaison for all ECR and APQP requests; seeing requirements

through from idea to manufacturing

  • Promote and facilitate the diagnosis of flow of work and information

(value stream mapping) to identify improvement priorities

  • Responsible for the execution of the lean calendar including kaizen

funnel review, charter development, and review, facilitation of lean events

and thorough follow up of events to ensure successful completion

MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE

  • Ability to gain followership and lead teams who are not direct reports

  • Achieve aggressive target improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and

Cost

  • Foster a strong lean culture within the organization

  • Implementation and execution of an effective and sustainable business

process improvements

  • Productivity/cost savings relating to machine downtime targets

  • Root cause counter measure problem solving

  • Significant improvement in operational and financial metrics (i.e. OTD,

standard margin)

  • Solid problem solving methodology and demonstrated skill

  • Strong communication/presentation skills

  • Sustainable performance improvements in product cost and PBIT

  • Timely and successful completion of various lean projects

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree with an engineering/manufacturing focus is strongly

preferred

  • Established set of lean tools (value stream mapping, standard work, 5S,

flow, pull, SMED, etc.); certification is highly desired

  • Exposure to and participation in a wide variety of training environments

  • Proven technical data analysis skills; including SPC, DOE, and other

visual data formats

  • Strong influence skills without direct authority; exceptional project

management skills
