PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Responsible for identifying and implementing solutions to eliminate hazardous equipment, processes, and conditions across all Cedar Falls locations including manufacturing, foundry and office. This position will be the primary contact specific to health and safety for the local teams.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead incident investigations and counter measure plans for all incidents.
Assess data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Develop and implement safety action plans.
Adhere to all OSHA safety requirements, training, and audits.
Work closely with Human Resources to identify return to work plans related to Workers Compensation process and policies.
Conduct safety walks throughout all locations.
Support all Lean event and continuous improvement projects.
Administer and assess the annual safety training programs.
Support the OSHA Mandatory Silica Program for the foundries.
Complete internal and external EH&S audits.
Manage required programs such as lockout/tagout, respirator fit testing, annual hearing tests, CPR/First aid and other associated items.
Administer evacuation protocols and policies.
Work as a safety liaison with Supervisors and Managers.
Deploy Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures in Operations.
Lead the Union safety committee.
Support capital projects specific to safety improvements, cost analysis and job enhancements.
Utilize safety data, trends, issues, etc. to recommend and implement proactive corrective actions and action plans
Additional duties as assigned.
Conduct risk assessments, drive aligned priority on improvement and resolution of identified risks at all facilities.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety or closely related technical field.
Minimum three years of safety experience in a manufacturing facility.
Knowledge of OSHA federal and state standards.
Familiarity with Industrial Hygiene testing and standards.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to move within office and manufacturing complex, write by hand and keyboard, and perform general office functions.
Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone and in person.
Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.
General manufacturing, warehouse and office environment.
