This position will function as the quality contact/facilitator for OEM customers, will be involved with administering Viking's welding qualification program, and will participate in customer audits and ISO 9001 activities. This position may also be involved with scrap reduction, internal corrective action, new product development projects and other special projects as required.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interface with customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality assurance and ensure effective corrective action is implemented.
Prepare PPAP documentation per OEM customer requirements.
Investigate/implement training to enable production personnel to achieve Viking's weld qualification requirements.
Design and implement methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
Develop, conduct and monitor the necessary training to meet quality objectives.
Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, quality plans, documents and reports.
Coordinate corrective actions for resolving quality problems identified by company personnel, customer complaints and OEM customer requirements. Recommend and implement methods for improving product and service quality levels.
Support concurrent Engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing Quality Assurance and the customer.
Participate in internal and external quality audits
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Associate Degree with background in quality, manufacturing or industrial technology and a minimum 3 years’ experience in quality, engineering, or manufacturing processes.
Bachelor Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements is preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to move within office and manufacturing complex, write by hand and keyboard, and perform general office functions.
Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone and in person.
Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.
General manufacturing, warehouse and office environment.
Must have the ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers and all levels of corporate and company personnel.
Must be able to work and communicate with all levels of company personnel, field sales employees, distributors, end users and suppliers.
