The Operations team at Viking Pump, Inc. - A Unit of IDEX Corporation is accepting applications for a Continuous Improvement Engineer to maintain and improve processes and systems at our vertically integrated machine shop and two foundries in Cedar Falls, IA .
Assist in maintaining and improving Machining and Foundry processes and systems that affect the quality of our products. The position requires high-level technical contribution, working with minimum supervision, and continually improving standard work and the development processes.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage Machining and Foundry capital projects which includes installation, initial and continuous programming, and daily operational support which includes troubleshooting of equipment
Use lean engineering tools to design and optimize manufacturing processes for the improvement of existing products and the introduction of new ones
Develop, implement and manage scrap and rework reduction initiatives
Create new standard work instructions and documentation as process changes dictate
Lead and support teams in Systematic Problem Solving of production and design issues
Assist in developing and implementing cost reduction initiatives through continuous improvements Kaizen events
Observe machines and equipment for malfunction and works in tandem with maintenance team to troubleshoot issues
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial engineering, Advanced Manufacturing Technology, or equivalent education and experience in a related field
Continuous improvement and lean experience or training in a machining or foundry environment required
CAM experience preferred
OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent interpersonal skills
Good organizational skills
Good Visualization skills
Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations and requirements.
This position requires compliance with ITAR regulations. Therefore, all employees working in this capacity must meet citizenship status and the employee must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to move within office and manufacturing complex, write by hand and keyboard, and perform general office functions.
Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone and in person.
Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.

Must have the ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers and all levels of corporate and company personnel.
Cross functional leadership, training and mentoring in all aspects of continuous improvement.
Working with all levels of the organization including and especially the Operations Leadership Team.
