The role of the Technical Buyer is to execute the procurement plan to ensure the right material is readily available at the correct time and with optimal cost. The Technical Buyer also executes the procurement strategy within a competitive and global supplier pool and integrates suitable suppliers into the innovation process at an early stage.
Purchase order generation and placement to approved vendors.
Continuous management and optimization of the vendor pool in order to be able to consistently fall back on capable partners.
Thorough and systematic assessment of vendors’ technical capabilities and identification of appropriate supply partners meeting our high standards of capability and quality.
Conversion of customer end requirements into in situ specs for downstream processes ensuring the WIP configuration enables successful delivery of fully compliant finished product. This requires understanding of fundamental optics processes and tolerance stack-up considerations.
Improve business process of technical procurement from specifications to delivery.
Drawing generation of optical and mechanical components.
Negotiation of conditions and conclusions of corresponding agreements and contracts.
Regular visits to vendors and audits to safeguard compliance with necessary standards.
Continuous vendor assessment and derivation of necessary measures.
Support of vendors in continued development in order to achieve necessary performance levels in the long term.
Continuous optimization of the supply chain to reduce delivery times and inventories and to guarantee flexibility and security of supply.
Working closely with NPI Engineering and Sales to ensure customer requirements are understood and met.
Cooperation in development projects including early integration of suitable vendors.
Creation of NPI procurement processes in order to increase efficiency.
On-going observation of supply markets in order to identify new developments, disruptive technologies or new vendors.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial engineering, or equivalent technical background.
Basic knowledge of project management.
Proficient user of computer systems including MS Windows, MS Office, SolidWorks. Knowledge of MRP and ERP required.
The ability to analyze problems, find alternative solutions, and to evaluate and successfully put those solutions into practice.
The ability to assert oneself consistently, to establish dialogue and, and to reach consensus in difficult situations.
