IDEX Optics Fabrication Technician in Boulder, Colorado

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Candidate will be expected to possess and continually develop a broad spectrum of skills. The candidate will primarily focus on manufacturing orders but will also work closely with engineering, and will have a direct say in process development and continuous improvement decisions. Technicians should be self-motivated and will be required to work unsupervised most times. Job functions performed will be inclusive of the following:

  • Machining (grinding, lapping and polishing) of glass/silicon/ceramic materials on automated and manual equipment

  • CNC fabrication equipment operation and maintenance

  • High precision optics metrology (interferometry, spectral scans, optical part characterization)

  • Cleaning, handling and assembly of optical and opto-electronic components

  • Cleaning and visual inspection of optical components

  • Proper handling and packaging of critical and fragile optical components

  • Inventory management of consumables for clean room, manufacturing, and chemical supplies

  • Procedure enforcement, maintenance, and cleaning of fabrication and clean room areas

  • Documentation and procedure development of manufacturing processes

  • Any other duties as assigned by the Manager or his/her designate

  • The candidate is expected to actively participate in establishing manufacturing procedures.

Education / Experience:

  • Familiar with working in manufacturing environment

  • Proficiency in basic computer use (Word, Excel) and communication tools (e-mail)

  • A former exposure to ISO 9000 or quality assurance systems and manufacturing tracking solutions

  • Knowledge of CNC programming and/or numerically controlled machine tools

Requirements :

This position may require lawful access to ITAR/EAR controlled information and employees in this role will need to meet those requirements. Requirements include US Citizenship, US Permanent Resident or ability to meet contract-specific licensure requirements.

Reporting and Location:

This position is based in Boulder, Colorado and reports to the Production Supervisor.

Compensation Information:

Pay Range: $19 - 25 per hour

Bonus: This position is eligible for company discretionary bonus
