Planner is responsible for performing and managing the buying and planning

functions for assigned value stream(s).


Lead and facilitate the successful implementation of Continuous Improvement

(CI) with sustaining impact to drive business performance across the

enterprise at Gast Manufacturing. Responsible for identifying and

implementing process improvements in both manufacturing and office areas;

Focus areas for improvements are in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and

Growth/Innovation. This individual will direct, coordinate, and actively

participate in the continuous process improvement process. The position

will lead the training of Lean principles (5S, RIE/Kaizen, Value Stream

Mapping, 80/20, Standard Work, Transactional Process Improvements, Quick

Changeover, Material Kanban, Variation Reduction/Six Sigma, Quality, etc.).

Demonstrate effective leadership by driving strong engagement through

positive employee relations, integrity, talent development, accountability,

and safety/ergonomics within the Gast organization.


-Build trust and credibility by leading by example

-Create regular communications with the value stream and vertical

businesses (clear direction, regular updates on events/decisions, and

accountability for achieving & sustaining RIE results)

-Drive sustainable and consistent quality processes throughout Gast/JUN-AIR

with sound root cause analysis and countermeasures

-Drives consistency and effective adoption of CI deployment in all areas

-Establish CI Roadmap that deploys actions to achieve strategic goals

-Hands-on participant of the Continuous Improvement/Kaizen processes by

leading Rapid Improvement Events (RIE’s)

-Implement problem-solving principles to identify root cause and corrective


Sourcing, GDP, and KPIs)

-Subject Matter Expert (SME) and trainer of CI tools (Mixed-Model Lean, Six

Sigma, SIOP,

-Support Goal Deployment Action Plans and improvement targets for the


-Utilize 80/20 method & Lean Mfg. & Six Sigma tools drive to focus

on the critical few items that will yield the highest impact to the


-Will help develop and maintain operational excellence and Quality KPI’s

and countermeasures

-Works to grow revenue & profit by delivering strong operational

performance (SQDC)


-Sustainable performance improvements in Safety, Quality, OTD, Lead-time

reduction, Inventory Turns, and PBIT

-Timely and successful completion of various CI projects

-Significant improvement in first pass yield, warranty claims, and customer

quality complaints


-Drive for results/high sense of urgency

-Solid problem-solving methodology and demonstrated skill


-Interpersonal savvy

-Strong leadership and influential skills

-Strong communication/presentation abilities

-Mentoring, development & accountability



-8+ years of production experience and four years of managerial experience

(ideally six sigma greenbelt as well)

-Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, business, engineering discipline, or

technical degree (advanced degree preferred)

-Hands-on responsibility for manufacturing product quality

-Strong continuous improvement background with knowledge of 5S, Kaizen,

Lean and Value Stream Mapping

-Working knowledge of CI tools (Mixed-Model Lean, Six Sigma, SIOP,

Sourcing, GDP, and KPIs)
