The Strategic Buyer’s mission is to develop, prioritize and execute long-term sourcing initiatives that reduce supply chain complexity and achieve YOY material productivity. The Strategic Buyer will use a variety of tools to quote for, procure, and ensure timely delivery of items necessary to support the organization’s build demands. The Buyer will be responsible for procurement and planning activities associated with CVI build demands. This person will leverage the ERP system, relationships with internal customers and close working relationships with the manufacturing team to deliver a competitive performance to our external customers.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Build a supplier base with the technical and business capabilities to support the company’s dynamic and growing requirements
Effectively communicate with vendors regarding delivery schedules, quality issues, and cost concerns
Monitor existing orders to ensure on time delivery
Expedite supplier orders as required
Ensure material availability for all demand
Analyze costs and negotiate prices for goods and services
Analyze data to recommend and implement changes
Leverage analyzed data from our ERP system to take actions to improve Inventory Turns and on hand inventory value
Develop and maintain an international supplier base that will meet the company’s needs in terms of quality, price, delivery, and lead time
Work with Quality Assurance and Engineering to ensure communication of specification and documentation requirements to suppliers
Monitor status of open purchase orders and ensures timely resolution and communication of potential problems
Assist in special projects
Perform other duties as assigned by manager
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree OR High School diploma AND, 5 years of relevant work experience required
Minimum of 3 years planning and/or purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3 years using computerized material planning and purchasing system
Intermediate Excel Skills (experience with v-lookup & pivot tables preferred)
Excellent organization skills

Ability to read and interpret drawings/blueprints

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to:
Perform sedentary work at a workstation
Operate computerized equipment and transcribe
Perform basic clerical lifting of small quantities of paper
Demonstrate upper body mobility to operate computer system
Bend as is necessary for sitting, typing (and/or using a computer mouse)
Manipulate papers into envelopes; type, operate computer mouse, and grasp
PHYSICAL CLASSIFICATION OF JOB:
Sedentary Work: The ability to lift up to ten pounds occasionally and up to five pounds frequently. Although a sedentary job is defined as one that involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
This position requires compliance with ITAR Regulations; this person must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident.
