This position requires lawful access to ITAR controlled information, meaning all CVI Laser Optics employees to be considered for this role will need to maintain US citizenship or permanent residency status in the US. Additionally, per the CVI Laser Optics Export Controls Policy and Procedure. Therefore, all employees working in this capacity must meet citizenship status (IDEX Optical Technologies’ Export Controls Policy and Procedure, the employee must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident.


The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for managing all details of manufacturing processes from specifying manufacturable specs, new part creation, defining manufacturing methods and metrology requirements. The primary responsibilities of this position included: providing technical support for Sales quote, specifying specs for products and setting up right manufacturing processes, troubleshooting production problems, managing resources to minimize the manufacturing time, documenting necessary engineering and metrology processes, continuously improving manufacturing processes, and managing engineering projects.


-Complies with health and safety policies and procedures submits accurate expense reports on a timely basis

-Establish and/or improve business metrics to maintain profitability

-Exceptional leadership, interpersonal and management skills

-Experience in managing diverse, multi-discipline technology programs

-Participate in sales process to assist business development in the acquisition/attainment of new projects

-Maintain positive business relationship with customers

-Manage all aspects of CVI’s products’ engineering needs

-Manage engineering projects to improve product yields

-Perform detailed analysis and present using MS Office products and other related software

-Responsible for continuous process improvement

-Support company values including ethical conduct and high integrity in all actions


-Ability to meet personal deadlines and project schedules and meet those deadlines

-Ability to work well under pressure (in a fast-paced environment) with tight time constraints to serve customers/internal team members to lead positive change

-Acquire substantial knowledge of CVI's manufacturing processes, procedures and products

-Collect, compile and understand basic mathematical calculations and statistical data

-Demonstrate ability to lead work well in a team environment with a detail-oriented approach to work

-Established experience and knowledge in the manufacturing for optics and optical-mechanical sub-assembly

-Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written

-Excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask as needed

-Identify, research and resolve issues, developing innovative methods

-Must be self-motivated, show initiative, anticipate and prevent issues by executing advanced problem-solving skills

-Organized, prioritized, and having a strong ability to manage projects

-Possess high degree of leadership and ability to influence cross-functionally

-Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project

-Proven computer programming abilities (ideally with Solid works)

-Read and understand a variety of job-related instructions and documents

-Self-starter maintains high ethical standards

-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

-Work effectively without upper management direction

-Work well with time and production limitations


-At least 4 years’ experience in customer-based product manufacturing process, optics related industry preferred

-BS in Physics, Optical Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, in a manufacturing environment, prefer MS degree or higher in a science field

-Capability to appraise a situation through data analysis and facilitate process improvements

-Eager to travel domestically and internationally and can work extended hours (when necessary)

-Experience with statistical techniques within a fast-paced manufacturing environment

-Good interactive people skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, management and /or individuals

-Knowledge within engineering environments and leading projects teams preferred

-Skilled with program management as well as with the interpretation of engineering drawings; familiarity of MIL Standards, and ISO Standards for optics

-Strong listening skills and the ability to multi-task

-Understanding of how to use MS Project, MS Word, PowerPoint, & Excel


Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.


Capacity to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customer’s regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format, this person will also need to effectively present information to top management and public groups.


The ability to lift to fifty pounds occasionally or up to fifteen pounds frequently. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job is in this category when it requires standing or sitting to a significant degree of pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls or both.

-Demonstrates upper body mobility to use the telephone and operate a computer system

-Exposed to bright lights used production areas

-Operates computerized equipment and perform calculations

-Performs legible written communication

-Performs sedentary work at a desk or work station

-Uses eyesight for all aspects of the job

-Will be in contact with minimal fumes from alcohol and acetone (used when cleaning equipment and optics)
