Position Summary

This District Sales Manager position is responsible for the sale and

support of Akron Brass products as well as the service and support of

Dealer and End-user Customers for all product lines within the assigned

territory. Position is responsible for expanding the content of Akron Brass

products with existing customers as well as seeking out new sales

opportunities. Also responsible for the utilization of the planning process

to identify and target opportunities in the territory with the focus on

maximizing revenue and profitability within the territory.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with technical training, installation, trouble shooting, and

service of product in the field.

  • Check on competitors’ activity and develop new sales strategies to offset

competitors’ initiatives.

  • Demonstrate effective territory and pipeline opportunity management

through the use of the Salesforce CRM tool. Sales team expectations include

maintaining updated account information, aggressive opportunity pipeline

management to maximize individual and company results, as well as

management and timely follow-up on all cases and leads assigned to the


  • Development and execution of territory business plan.

  • Development of distributor network through training, education, and joint

sales calls. Evaluate distribution performance and recommend new accounts,

realignment or termination of accounts in order to achieve company

objectives and maximize market penetration while increasing company


  • Evaluate field product complaints and report on findings, as well as

handle resolution of problems.

  • Handle Regional Trade shows and Distributor / OEM Open Houses within the


  • Keep informed of new products, services and other general information of

interest to customers.

  • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned

from time to time.

  • Responsible for conducting sales activities within territory in order to

exceed the territory fiscal sales plan (total sales as well as new product

sales) on a monthly and quarterly basis. Monitor performance through the

review of daily, weekly, and monthly reports.

  • Uncover, develop, and co-manage new specification opportunities to expand

our presence and share of the apparatus. Work closely with the OEM account

sales team in order to drive specifications with end users within the

territory impacting the overall Akron Brass results beyond just the

territory results.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be able to travel 70% of the time

  • Must have good Credit

  • Must have a valid Driver’s license

  • Fire Industry Experience Required

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor degree in business, marketing, engineering or fire services

preferred. 3-5 years of successful selling experience, preferably in the

fire industry. Fire department experience is an asset.

Language Skills

Ability to read and fluently speak English. Ability to read, analyze and

interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and

legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from

customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to

prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to

top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest,

commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid

conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical

instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract

and concrete variables.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of

Contact Management systems; Database software; Internet software;

Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
