Under minimal supervision is responsible for achievement of cell level metrics through overall administration of staff and processes, providing general work direction by distributing the workflow within their area, and scheduling and monitoring work deadlines, and providing input to the area Manager. Additionally, maintains excellent communication with the Planning and Supply Chain groups and other Team Leads and drives training and cross-training in their respective areas.
Provides direct leadership in focusing on cell level metrics and in the pursuit of ever increasing performance. Continually provides ideas for process improvements and changes made to improve quality, productivity, and/or functionality.
Conduct daily meetings to coordinate Daily Management, communicate objectives and current performance vs. objectives
Maintain visual management in assigned cells.
Independent development of action plans and countermeasures to ensure metric success.
Resolves issues that inhibit smooth production flow through the cells (issues regarding manpower, methods, tooling, fixtures, or materials).
Review daily labor demand per cell.Schedule employees where needed to meet daily demand.
Ensure successful cross-training plan execution across assigned cells
Provide schedule to support groups as to what is needed and when to follow up.
Conduct employee’s performance reviews and provide feedback.
Participates in interviews and selection processes
Ability to deal with employee performance issues in an effective manner.
Control material assets within the cells.Ensure proper inventory transactions to ensure high inventory accuracy including Kanban process adherence.
Assists in planning, laying out work assignments, test or inspection sequences, tool and equipment care and maintenance, and methods within their work area.
Administers application of company personnel and policies, timecard administration, safety/health, and routine working rules and regulations.
Keeps management informed of actual or anticipated schedule problems, material shortages, tool or equipment problems, procedural deficiencies, safety, housekeeping or material handling discrepancies or employee relation matters that may come to their attention.
Provides feedback to Reject Reports and other Quality related issues to prevent reoccurrence.
Manages the Maintenance and Tooling groups
Responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the PM (Preventative Maintenance) program
Participates in RIE’s (Rapid Improvement Events) as assigned
May perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education / training / experience / eligibility)
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing / Technology, or equivalent preferred
Minimum 2 years proven shop floor operations leadership / supervisory experience in a multi-functional manufacturing environment
Working knowledge and training in Lean manufacturing concepts and techniques with exposure to Kanban managed supply chain, preferred.
Ability to understand and interpret blueprints and engineering specifications
Must have Authorization to work in the United States, and be able to have lawful access to controlled technology as required for this position.
ERP system experience required- Oracle JD Edwards preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge / Skills)
Must be knowledgeable in administrative procedures; production and/or engineering documentation, work schedules, set-ups, methods and procedures; equipment operation
Good leadership, coaching, and training skills.
Must be knowledgeable and able to perform safety and housekeeping requirements; as well as other associated material, administrative, operational or employee relations matters that may affect their work area or assignments.
Must possess necessary interpersonal skills, written, verbal and other technical skills to properly direct, assist and train personnel.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Ability to write by hand and communicate by speech and hearing continuously.Communication is in person.
Visual acuity needed for close detailed work.
General Production/Assembly environment.
Work area may be subject to undesirable temperatures in winter and summer.
May require working with hazardous substances.
