Under minimal supervision, this position supports the Cost Manager by gathering timely cost information for business decision making purposes—including (but not limited to) product costing, margin analysis, inventory valuation and reserves, and manufacturing variances. This position supports the monthly close cycle as well as ad-hoc cost and financial analysis to support the monthly financial report. This position will partner with the Cost Manager, Materials/Supply Chain, IT, and Finance team. Essential Responsibilities:
Participate in the month-end close cycle, including preparation of required journal entries and account reconciliations.
Support Cost Manager in maintaining an accurate standard cost for all parts through labor and overhead rate studies and purchase price analysis.
Provide variance analysis around purchase price, material usage, labor rate, and overhead spend. Work with and participate in the cycle counting process weekly.
Follow up with Purchasing and Operations to ensure proper cycle counting procedure is followed.
Assist the Cost Manager in the annual physical inventory process for the site including training, execution of counts, and reconciliation of results / variances.
Supportive role in conducting cost quotes, make vs. buy, break-even, and margin analysis as needed.
Support finance department and fill in gaps where needed.
Identify areas for simplification within your daily work and execute those projects.
Support inter-departmental projects and analysis as needed for profitability improvement.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related area or actively working toward a degree with 1-2 years working experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Good oral and written communication skills are necessary and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate large volumes of data and identify critical trends.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
Highly self-motivated individual who will drive process improvements.
