Description:

Hurst is seeking a highly motivated Quality Engineer to join a dedicated team in Shelby NC to support daily production and new product implementation. You will promote quality improvements through process implementation and auditing, continuous improvement initiatives, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive implementation of best practices in problem solving analysis and standardization of new product implementation procedures.

  • This individual will lead implementation of world class quality processes, increasing responsiveness to customer concerns, and be responsible for establishing and sustaining robust quality systems.

  • Genuine commitment to fostering long-term growth and development of manufacturing quality systems.

  • Develops, initiates, and maintains control plans, methods and procedures for evaluating quality and reliability to assure products meet customer needs and design requirements.

  • Lead the organization in establishing and sustaining robust quality controls.

  • Applies statistical quality control methods in analyzing data to evaluate the current process and recommend process changes.

  • Conducts preventive and corrective problem solving analysis, plans and implements methods to prevent recurrence.

  • Designs and develops methods, processes and procedures for recording and reporting of data results, and reports on those results.

  • Plans and conducts quality analysis, design of experiments, and products tests to assure the quality of products.

  • Conducts quality reviews and audits for compliance with stated requirements from design documentation, both internal and with purchased product.

  • Reviews purchased and produced parts or products and provides input to the decision to accept the product and future purchases from the supplier.

  • Successfully works across all disciplines and levels of the organization in a persuasive and credible manner.

  • Provide continuous education to others of Quality policies and procedures at all levels of the organization.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, quality management, production or related technical discipline; or equivalent in experience.

  • Minimum of 4 years manufacturing and quality experience in a CNC machining environment, including experience with ISO9001 requirements.

  • Strongly prefer ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.

  • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Training and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience implementing, administrating and/or auditing quality programs and procedures, such as ISO9001.

  • Lean problem-solving and corrective action processes; including 8D, Pareto Analysis, 5-Why technique, Design of Experiments and other manufacturing-related continuous improvement tools.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills. Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; effectively analyzes technical data and proposals.

  • Strong statistics process control knowledge (Six Sigma Statistical Process Control), including descriptive statistics, statistical models and assumptions, and accepted research techniques.

  • Demonstrated Project Management Experience: Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks. Develops project plans; Coordinates projects; Communicates changes and progress; Completes projects on time and budget; Manages project team activities.
